If you visited us this summer, you know our walls have been filled with a lovely range of artwork. As we wrap up the last few weeks of summer, allow us to once again honor the winners from Best of Gage and all the amazing artwork that came out of this past year. We’re always looking forward to what’s to come and we encourage you to keep up to date on all these emerging artists and to follow their accounts, stories, art, journeys, etc.
Ā
Also, huge shout out to Pamela Belyea for letting us borrow and display 50 years of self-potraits from Gary Faigin. His work reminds us daily that artists are made, not born.

We just wrapped up another amazing week of Youth Summer Camp šŸŒž

Our Summer Team is doing a great job of capturing our young artists hard at work and play! We’d love to spam your feeds with some of the sweetest photos to possibly exist but we’ll show some restraint.

We have a few more weeks of camp left and we can’t wait to see what new works, friendships, dance moves, and so much more are made ✨

Parents and guardians, if your young artist has any work from their camp they’d love to share, tag us!

The World Cup may have ended a few weeks ago but the revelry and international camaraderie had a lasting impact on our city! ICYMI,Ā local Chinook Artist and Atelier Student, Felicia ā€œFelixā€ Bryan (By Felicia) designed a Whale Tail Selfless Station (currently on display at Amazon Day 1 Field), and we’re still not over it.
Ā
Felix’s design for the Whale Tail Selfless Station, produced by Western Neon, is a thoughtful representation of her culture, centering on the great blue heron. The piece merges the heron’s silhouette with the whale tail form, two shapes that carry enormous symbolic weight in Coast Salish spiritual traditions. Our city is rich with Indigenous culture and history that is still unfolding before us.
Ā
Now that the cup is over, the installation will move to a permanent location on Amazon’s Seattle campus, where Felix’s work will have a lasting presence in one of the most visited corporate campuses in the city. Not only is this a major milestone in Felix’s artistic career, this is an opportunity for our community to learn about the great blue heron, learn it’s original name in the Lushootseed language of the Coast Salish peoples asĀ sbəq̓ʷaŹ”, and learn the tradition it represents.
Ā
We’re grateful to be able to share this moment in Felix’s artistic career. Read more about the impact of the installation on our website and stay tuned to hear more about Felix’s story.

Seattle Art Fair opens tonight! We’re so excited to be a Cultural Partner this year and host ā€œLife Drawing of a Caregiverā€ a project by the artist Jeremy Deller.

We’ll have instructors leading life drawing sessions and we’re doing a special raffle for a FREE Gage class 🄳

Lots going on but we’re so excited to be amongst other creatives and see what everyone’s getting up to.

ICYMI: It’s almost time for theĀ SeattleĀ ArtĀ Fair šŸ’«

Come and celebrate with community from all over the Pacific Northwest’sĀ artsĀ ecosystem (artists, galleries, arts institutions). This year, Gage is collaborating as a Cultural Partner at theĀ Fair šŸ¤

We’ll have a booth showcasing the impact visual arts has had on our own community AND we’ll be hostingĀ ā€œLife Drawing of a Caregiverā€, a participatory project by theĀ artistĀ Jeremy Deller.
Ā
ā€œLife Drawing of a Caregiverā€, Deller’s project, takes those whose work involves tending to others and in turn puts those very folks at the center of being observed and drawn. We invite you to join Gage teaching artists at the various free sessions, to capture the image of real caregivers from all over to Seattle āœļø
Ā
With that being said, we’re looking for a handful of volunteers to help support Gage at the Fair. If you’re available July 24–26 and want to spend a weekend surrounded by fellow creatives, fill out a volunteer form!Ā

Mind if we share some kudos of our own? Gage is the recipient of TWO awards šŸ†
Ā
One award is from Seattle’s Child’s 2026 Family Favorites! A contest where local families across Seattle voted and celebrate their favorite businesses, camps, services, and places. We are so honored to make that list. We love getting to offer youth classes, summer camps, Teen Art Studios and provide our local youth with access to the arts šŸ’«
Ā
The second is from Seattle Gay News where Gage won ā€œBest Art Classā€! We might be biased but we have some of the best teaching artists educating our communities šŸ˜‰
Ā
These awards are made possible thanks to supporters, students, artists and arts enthusiasts, community members like you all. We share these awards with you!
