Happy New Year! A reminder that Seven Hills joined in partnership with Bright Water Waldorf School, which has relocated to the Japanese Cultural Community Center of Washington in Seattle's Central District neighborhood. We are intentional about our urban location and centering issues of justice, equity, and inclusion in our curriculum and community learning.

We are also so grateful for the amazing administrative and faculty commitment to ensuring that our children continue learning in person! Regular antigen testing, KN95-masking, and loads of outside play and learning are ensuring that these kiddos get the social/emotional/academic connections they need!

Bright Water Waldorf School is enrolling now for the 2022-2023 school year! Check out our program! We would love to welcome you into this vibrant community.

At the heart of our Waldorf Early Childhood program is play. Through imagination, children develop social skills and the capacity for creative thinking and problem solving. Undirected play allows children to learn how to work in groups, to share, to negotiate, to resolve conflicts, and to learn self-advocacy skills.

Art is continuously woven through the curriculum at Seven Hills. The imagination is nourished, compassion is developed, and an appreciation for beauty is felt and recognized within each classroom.

In providing the students with a beautiful environment conducive to learning, the Waldorf teacher fosters the child’s developing ability to know beauty in the world around them.

Embracing a Vision of Social Justice in Early Childhood Education - Rethinking Schools 02/12/2021

“Social justice and ecological teaching relocates the meaning of early childhood education from school readiness to social and emotional learning and intellectual development. It offers another way to understand childhood, reminding us that this is a time when children ought to be developing core social and ecological dispositions rather than cramming for the tests ahead.”

At Seven Hills School, students develop social-emotional skills and the ability to navigate group and individual dynamics through the supportive guidance of teachers who know them well, steering group conversation and building interdependence and resilience among the class.

Seven Hills School is part of a worldwide transformative educational movement that acknowledges and nurtures the whole child. Waldorf education was radical in its founding and is progressive today as a community based, coeducational, arts infused, independent educational experience.

The teacher and child stand at the center of the community in a continuing deep relationship supporting the child to develop their highest capacities of imaginative critical thinking, empathic feeling and a will focused on taking initiative in service to the growth and development of both self and others.
