Montessori Creation Station 🤖✂️✨
What makes this creation station Montessori, you might ask? It’s the intentionality behind it.
It’s making sure there are enough materials for the children who may be using them, but not so many that the space becomes overwhelming. Each section has its own purpose, whether it holds materials or tools, and the quantities of each are intentionally limited.
Never overstuff the work. Too much will quickly create an avalanche of materials and frustration for the child. Instead, everything has a place and a purpose.
Preparing the environment and the work in a way that encourages the child’s creativity while also helping them maintain the space for the next child is so important. The goal is for children to be able to choose what they need, use it independently, and return it when they’re finished.
It’s also important to prepare the space so that the need for adult intervention is limited whenever possible. When children can access what they need, understand where it belongs, and care for the environment themselves, the space supports their independence.
Would you set this up in your classroom?
