This week in Student Success Seminar—formerly known as Homeroom or Colloquium—our 12th-grade Seagulls took the stage to present to our Sharks!

Each student or student group selected an impactful person of Hispanic heritage to research. Beyond learning about their heritage and accomplishments, students dug deeper into their person’s educational and career journey. What pathway did they take to success? Trade school? Community college? A four-year university? Entrepreneurship? There is no single path to success, and our students are discovering the many possibilities!

Projects like these give our Seniors an opportunity to strengthen their research, public speaking, and presentation skills as they prepare for their Pacifica Presentations this spring.

And there’s an added bonus: our middle school students get to see strong presentations from their high school peers... and even provide feedback! We love creating opportunities for our Sharks and Seagulls to learn from one another. 🩵❤️

This week, Mr. Klosterman (Mr. K!) brought the process of government to life as students simulated how a bill becomes a law!

Students took on roles as members of the House or Senate, worked within smaller subcommittees, and each proposed a bill connected to something meaningful to them, our school community, or the greater Seaside community.

Student proposals have included topics such as AI use in education, cellphones at school, creating an FFA program, bringing back Home Ec classes, and building a new performing arts center.

We LOVE seeing our students engage with real-life, relevant issues and practice the skills of civic participation right here in their own classroom! What an awesome way to make Government come alive!

Next week, students will face the final step in the legislative process as Principal Crozier steps in as the “President” to review their proposed bills—will they be signed into law or vetoed? ❤️💙

It's that time again! Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences are upon us at SHS & SMS. Conferences are in person, by phone or video. All conferences require an appointment. Conferences are strictly 10 minutes long in order to meet with as many families as possible.

This week in Mr. Bilyeu’s Physics classroom, students were collaborating to track their movement with sound waves. The hallway was filled with curiosity, intense data collection, and a little scientific laughter! Thank you, Mr. Bilyeu, for providing our students with engaging hands-on lessons that broaden their understanding of the world around them.

This week in Ms. Archibald‘s culinary classroom, students were whipping up delicious German pancakes and chocolate soufflé cupcakes! We are so fortunate to have a culinary master on staff to lead hands-on lessons that will stick with our students for life… Bon appétit!

Hello Clatsop County! Here is a reminder that Saturday, September 26, 2026 is the 36th Annual Three Course Course Challenge being held at Camp Rilea in Warrenton. Traffic is anticipated to be impacted on Highway 101 from approximately 8:00am to Noon. We will have approximately 1,700 runners participating with teams traveling from all over Oregon, Washington, California, and Canada We appreciate your patience during this amazing event.
