The Cold Case Project of Monterey County invites CSUMB students, faculty, and staff to design its official Challenge Coin.

The coin with the winning design will be distributed to the officers and community members who support the work of Cold Case Project of Monterey County, a non-profit committed to solving 600 cold case investigations in Monterey County.

The winning design receives a $250 prize!

Your artwork could become a symbol of hope, justice, and community impact. 💛

Congratulations to Dr. Babita Gupta and Dr. Shwadhin Sharma on receiving 's Learning Innovation for Future-Forward Teaching (LIFT) Award! 🎉

The two information systems professors were award $12,000 for their project, “Making Student Reasoning Visible in an AI-Enabled Learning Environment,” Their project was selected from more than 250 proposals submitted across the CSU's 23 campuses as part of the inaugural LIFT program.

The project will explore innovative teaching strategies that help students make their thinking visible by explaining their reasoning, reflecting on decision-making, and demonstrating evidence-based problem solving while using AI responsibly.

By emphasizing critical thinking, analytical reasoning, communication, and ethical AI use, the project prepares students with the durable skills needed to succeed in today's evolving workforce.

We're proud to celebrate Dr. Gupta and Dr. Sharma for their leadership in advancing innovative, future-focused business education.

We're proud to share that the California State University Applied AI Research Summit will debut this August in conjunction with the global —bringing together academic researchers, industry leaders, and corporate decision-makers to advance applied AI innovation.

The summit, an idea championed by Dr. Jill Hosmer, was created to bridge the gap between academia and industry by showcasing applied AI research to executive leaders and fostering new research partnerships. The event will also feature numerous faculty-student collaborative research presentations, creating valuable opportunities for networking, internships, and future careers in AI.

The Applied AI Research Summit is free and open to the public on Monday, August 3rd, but RSVP is required due to limited capacity.
