Peyton, our summer intern, was in row crop country all this week with me! She jumped right into our White County soybean verification weekly field walk and learned how to sweep net (look at that field!). Then came with me to a soybean herbicide training this morning where Bob Scott helped us identify some herbicide damage on a farmer’s field.

Had a busy morning checking my southwest corn borer traps and our rice verification field! The crops in White County are looking good and we’ve got almost everything planted. If you need any help or have any ideas for demonstrations, give me a call!

A warm welcome to our new summer intern! Can’t wait to show Peyton some of our row crops in White County as well!

Thank you Taylor Klass for teaching this informative horticulture pathogens and pests training at our office! Learning how to identify symptoms and signs with any plant brought in by growers is vital to our work everyday. This helps us quickly identify problems and figure out what steps to take when time is of the essence!

2026 Future Ag Leader's Tour: This year’s tour is open to undergraduate and graduate students, 18 years of age or older. Fun fact, I had the opportunity to take part in this program the summer of my junior year in college, and I truly think it helped my knowledge of agriculture in Arkansas grow. I gained great friends and an opportunity to network with producers and stakeholders all around Arkansas!

Yesterday I got to attend the Arkansas Soil and water conference and hear some great speakers. The best part was getting to see one of our own White County farmers get 1st place in the Most Crop Per Drop contest in the Flood Rice category! Congratulations to Patrick Hambrick ; fun fact, this was his first year entering!🌾
