Brethren,
Join us in wishing one of our oldest living Past Masters, Bro. W.O. "Buddy" Phillips, a happy belated 91st birthday! Bro. Phillips is always a joy to have around the lodge, is quick with a joke, and knows more about our county's history than most others.
He is a good man and a better Mason.

Searcy Lodge No. 49 always loves to support the great work that The Sunshine School does with special education in our community. We were honored to give our annual donation to Ms. Julie Bridges, the director of The Sunshine School, and learn about all the good work they're doing this year.
We have been annual supporters of The Sunshine School for the past couple of decades. How have you supported special education in your community? How has The Sunshine School influenced your life?
Pictured below is Ms. Bridges with our current Worshipful Master, Bro. John Walker.

What does our Historian, Bro. Colton Hambrick, do when he doesn't have any immediate obligations? This evening, he found time to walk every aisle of Oak Grove Cemetery and record all tombstones bearing Masonic symbols. For those not from the Searcy area, Oak Grove Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in White County, and the oldest surviving cemetery in the city. Most of our known Past Masters are buried here, so it is the first spot in which we should look when trying to rebuild our lost membership roster, c. 1852 – 1920.
For those unaware, Searcy Lodge No. 49 lost almost all of their records pre-1919 due to multiple fires and mishaps. Through the diligent research of our Past Master, Bro. Robert Alexander Ward, Jr. (a member of the first Lodge of Research) and Bro. Arthur Pryor Strother, Jr. (an early 20th century White County historian), primary knowledge from and/or interviews with of some of our oldest Past Masters, Bros. Buddy Phillips, Larry Berry, etc., and the current endeavors of Bro. Hambrick, we have made incredible strides in rebuilding our list of Past Masters, Past Officers, Funerals, Affiliations, Degrees, Full Membership Roster and Historic Events. Bro. Hambrick has expanded his scope to encompass all of White County, as much of Searcy's history overlaps into the surrounding towns. If you ever visit, please feel free to ask about our research.
ALSO, if you're free NEXT SATURDAY (May 2), please stop by our booth at the White County Pioneer Village where Bro. Hambrick will be presenting artifacts and history pertaining to the Masonic History of White County. Our Past Master and current Tyler, Bro. Tom Dunn, will also be present (in a separate area) as a living history volunteer! Give him a hello while you are there!
Historic preservation is alive and well here at Searcy Lodge No. 49!

Brethren & Friends of Searcy Lodge No. 49,
The March Stated Meetings was fantastic, and our brethren accomplished some solid work tonight.
- Our newest Past Master, Bro. David Manary was presented a custom Past Master apron by our Junior Warden, Bro. Colton Hambrick. We would like to give a special thanks to our Principal Officers, Bros. Johnny Walker (W.M.), Tracy Anthony (S.W.), and Colton Hambrick (J.W.) for acquiring this apron.
- Our newest Master Mason, Bro. Scott Wilson, turned in his Master's Lecture in a near flawless delivery covering both questions and answers! Could this be Searcy's newest Lecturer?! Stay tuned!
- Our Historian, Bro. Colton Hambrick, is undertaking a new endeavor to preserve our 170+ years of Masonic history at Searcy, by creating a photography display of all past Secretaries of our Lodge. Keep an eye out on his progress at your next visit!
- We had a visitor all the way from Hawaii! Bro. Scott Krieger of Maui Lodge (no number) came to scope out Searcy Lodge as a potential affiliation spot. He brought us all lapel pins, as see below. We hope to see him again soon.
Even though our turnout was small, we had a night filled with great food and fellowship. We'll see you at the next one!
