And just like that… we’re empty nesters again. ❤️

Our son left for Ithaca to head back to college.

I’m so grateful for the time he was home — even if some days it felt like a mini tornado had moved back into the house. 😂 Clothes, shoes, food, dishes and friends… all the wonderful chaos that comes with having your kids home again.

Today, I’m actually okay.

Ask me again in a few days when the house has been quiet for a little too long and I walk past his room and see the shoes he left lying on the floor. That’s usually when the missing-him part really settles in.

When our first child left home, it was hard, but we still had one at home. Somehow that made the transition a little easier.

Now they’re both out there building lives of their own, and this empty-nesting thing feels different.

But here’s what I keep coming back to:

They’re happy.

They’re with people they enjoy. They’re building friendships, having experiences, figuring out who they are and creating lives of their own.

And isn’t that what we wanted for them all along?

So now we get to figure out this chapter too.

We work. We make travel plans. We spend more time with friends. We meet on the pickleball court, the beach or a hiking trail. We keep creating a life that we love while cheering them on as they create theirs.

And above all, I trust God to watch over my children and the friends who have become part of their lives when I can’t be there to do it myself. 🙏

The house may be a little quieter again today…

…but knowing they’re happy makes this mama’s heart a whole lot happier too. 🤗

A week ago, I had the opportunity to share a short 4-minute message for Professional Speakers Day with The Smile Channel. 🎤✨
It spoke about why I enjoy speaking and the possibility that one message, one thought, or one voice can make a difference for someone.

We don’t always know who needs to hear what we have to say. Sometimes we simply need to be willing to say it.

Hey you! Your voice matters!

🎥 I’ve shared my full 4-minute talk on YouTube — https://youtu.be/Y3Ydb9qwt08

Flipping through old photos, I came across these from our family trip to Costa Rica a few years ago 🇨🇷 — and they immediately made me smile.

White-water rafting was HIGH on my adventure list for that trip… although when the day actually came, my husband and I were definitely a little nervous. The kids? Fearless! 😂🛶

Looking at these photos now, I realize that day gave me a pretty good picture of life.

We were prepared. We had a wonderful guide, Kevin, who taught us how to paddle, what to do when someone fell out of the boat AND what to do if you were the one who fell out. Very handy information, as it turned out… thanks, Kevin! 😂

And through it all, we kept paddling.

Another thing Kevin had us do was celebrate after every stretch of rapids. Once we reached the calmer water, paddles went UP and together we’d yell…

🙌 PURA VIDA! Life is good!

So here’s to you, my dear friend. ❤️

I don’t know whether you’re in the calm waters of life right now or somewhere in the rapids. But if it’s the latter — keep moving forward. Keep paddling.

And when you make it through that stretch — because you will — don’t forget to stop and CELEBRATE.

PURA VIDA! Life is good. Keep living it! ☕️🛶

I almost let my nerves steal this moment.

Every time before I speak—whether it’s a workshop, a keynote, or today’s podcast—I wonder...

Did I prepare enough? Will I forget something?

But every single time, when it’s over, I walk away with the same feeling...

Gratitude. Joy. Accomplishment.

It reminds me that courage doesn’t mean we aren’t nervous. It means we choose to show up anyway.

If there’s something you’ve been putting off because it feels uncomfortable, don’t only remember the fear before you begin...

Remember the feeling that’s waiting for you afterward.

Today, I’m choosing to celebrate this moment.

Ps. Have a fabulous weekend 🤗

🎤 Tomorrow I'll have the privilege of joining an incredible community of professional speakers for Professional Speakers Day, hosted by Perfect Publishing.

As I've been preparing my four-minute message, I've found myself reflecting on something simple...

Looking back over my life, some of the most significant turning points didn't come from major events.

They came from a sentence.

Words spoken in a movie.
A voice on the radio.
A Bible verse.
Encouragement from people who believed in me.

Each reminded me that words have the power to inspire, redirect, and even change the course of a life.

Tomorrow, I'll be sharing why I believe your voice may be the answer to someone else's prayer.

If you're available, I'd love for you to join me.

🗓 Friday, August 7
🕙 Scheduled for approximately 10:10 AM Pacific | 1:10 PM Eastern

▶️ Watch live here:

A heartfelt thank you to Perfect Publishing, The Smile Channel, and Dr. Smiley for creating a platform where voices can encourage, inspire, and remind us that our words truly matter.

I'd love to know...

What's one sentence someone once shared with you that has stayed with you over the years?

A few weeks ago, right after my backpacking trip, I recorded this reflection. At the time, my hips were sore from carrying a 30-pound backpack.

What struck me afterward was this: the very weight that caused the discomfort was also carrying everything I needed—my shelter ⛺️, my bed, and the food that sustained me.

It reminded me that not all discomfort is something to avoid. Sometimes it’s justified because it’s carrying something valuable.

Growth often asks something of us. Healing can be uncomfortable. Learning stretches us. New beginnings require courage.

Before we rush to escape discomfort, perhaps it’s worth asking:

What if this season isn’t meant to break me… but to build me?

What “weight” are you carrying today that might actually be preparing you for something greater?

One more moment from Parker Lake. ☕🌿

Sometimes, the greatest gift we can give ourselves is simply... silence.

One of the reasons I love being out in nature isn’t just because of the breathtaking views—it’s because of what disappears.

The rush.
The traffic.
The constant notifications.
The endless to-do list.

Even if it’s just for a few minutes today, I hope you find an opportunity to step outside, take a deep breath, and let nature remind you what peace feels like.

🌿 Sometimes the best medicine for the soul has been waiting just outside our door.

“Sometimes the journey back feels shorter than the journey there.” 🌞

As we hiked back from our camping spot, I mentioned how much faster the return seemed.

We laughed about the obvious reasons...
🎒 Our backpacks were lighter after eating our food.
🥾 We knew what to expect.
⛰️ We knew where the climbs, creek crossings, and downhill stretches were.

Then my friend quietly said...

“Maybe our souls are lighter.”

That stayed with me.

Perhaps time doesn’t always change.

Perhaps we do.

Nature has a way of stripping away the unnecessary and reminding us of what really matters.

🌿 Oh, the beauty that surrounds us...
The best part?

It’s free. And sometimes it heals more than just your body—it lightens your soul. 💚

Love Always,
Christina 💕

Yesterday, I experienced something unexpected.

Just before I was due to speak at the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce, my planned 20-minute presentation suddenly became a 5–10 minute talk.

For a brief moment, I thought, “Well... this isn’t what I prepared for.”

Then I remembered...

Life rarely unfolds exactly the way we plan.

So instead of focusing on what I’d lost, I focused on what mattered most. I shared the message I felt would serve the room best.

As I reflected on the morning afterwards, one thought kept coming back to me:

“The day I stopped trying to become someone else’s version of a great speaker was the day I discovered my own voice.”

And perhaps that’s true for all of us.

We spend so much of our lives wondering if we’re good enough, comparing ourselves to others, or trying to become who we think we should be.

Yet our greatest strength has never been becoming someone else.

It’s becoming more fully who we were uniquely created to be.

Maybe today is a good day to stop comparing.

Maybe today is a good day to trust your own voice.

Because the world doesn’t need another copy.

✨ It needs the original you!

Love ALways,
Christina 💕
