Found damaged in the wreckage of the World Trade Center in the wake of the attacks of September 11th, a Callery pear tree was nursed back to health by NYC Parks workers, until it was replanted at the 9/11 Memorial almost a decade later. The 9/11 Seaford HS Memorial Committee acquired a sapling from this tree (sapling #14) and planted it on the grounds of Seaford HS on October 13, 2015. This offspring of the Survivor Tree is thriving. May it forever symbolize resiliency, renewal, hope, and strength of our community and our nation.
