We’re excited to announce the Camp Saint Christopher Fall Play Day, happening here at camp on November 22, 2026, from 2-6pm! 🍁

All are welcome at this free event, and we are excited to extend a special invitation to our returning camper families. Whether 2026 was your family’s first experience with Camp Saint Christopher, you’ve been coming for several years, or if Camp Saint Christopher has been a second home to you for many years, we invite you to come out.

Join us for Fall themed crafts, hayrides around camp, archery, and a meal to honor the families who have supported us in our ministry. 🤎

Children must be accompanied and supervised by a parent/guardian/adult. Participant waivers will be available upon arrival to the event and must be completed for all family/group members. Sign ups will close on November 18th at 5pm. You can register on the EVENTS page of our website!

St. Christopher now has openings for reservations anytime between Monday, November 16, through Tuesday, November 24th. We’d love to share our beautiful coastal getaway location with you, your colleagues, your friends, or your family!

Attention all bird and kayak enthusiasts! The St. Christopher Camp and Conference Center’s Outdoor Encounters program invites you to join us on our annual Deveaux Bank Birding and Kayak Trip for 2026! The 3-hour tour will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, starting at 12:00 PM and ending around 3:00 PM.

The trip includes paddling with tandem or single sit-on-top kayaks from St. Christopher’s beach on Seabrook Island to Deveaux Bank, with around 1 hour of exploring and birding along Deveaux’s intertidal zone. Deveaux Bank is one of the premier seabird sanctuaries north of Florida with thousands of birds nesting and migrating through every year. An assortment of species – including American white pelicans and piping plovers – frequent the bank’s shores. Because of Deveaux’s importance, we ask that all guests adhere to SCDNR regulations by staying below the high tide line not designated as a nesting area.

Spots are limited on a first-come, first-serve basis and as such, you may be placed on a waitlist. The cost is $85 per person. Lunch is not provided. If you are interested in joining us for the 2026 trip, please fill out the form on our website to register! 🪶

Jared, our Director of BI, shared about the event: “Following the screening of the documentary “In Our Nature”, which highlighted the importance of environmental education in the modern climate, I was privileged to speak on a panel alongside Judy Fairchild of Nature Walks with Judy, Erin Snow of Green Heart SC, and Keith Willoughby of Environmental Education Association of SC. During this panel discussion, we spoke on how we were led to Environmental Education, the necessity of Wonder and Love, the role of technology, how we ourselves as people are part of Nature, and how food and shared meals play a part in environmental education. This film screening and discussion sparked many more conversations on how we can best set up our next generations to steward our beloved home and its inhabitants!”

Monarch butterfly caterpillars are being spotted on the milkweed growing in our pollinator garden! 🌱

You can be a part of helping this species thrive by planting Butterfly W**d and Swamp Milkweed in your gardens to host caterpillars and by planting Goldenrod, Asters, Spotted Beebalm, Purple Coneflower, and Joe-Pye W**d to provide a rich nectar source for during migration. 🌸

Members of the Barrier Island Team will be involved with the Hope Summit Conference and Community Festival located at the Charleston Museum in downtown Charleston this week. This is a gathering designed to foster agency and hope through community-driven solutions to sustainably manage our coastal environment. ✨

This Thursday, following a film screening of “In Our Nature” Jared, the Director of BI, will be on a panel discussion about the importance of environmental and science educators and communicators in building a culture of stewardship along with Green Heart and Environmental Educators of SC.

This Saturday, BI naturalists Rebecca Allen, Lillie Kochenderfer, and Kaitlyn Rainey will be tabling at the Hope Summit Community Festival to promote the Barrier Island program and gather alongside like-minded partner organizations.

Tickets for the full schedule of events at the Hope Summit are still available, or you can join for the free event on Saturday. We hope to see you there! 🌱

Last week our Associate Director of Barrier Island, Tyler, traveled to Ohio to present at The Procter Center about the importance of our environmental education program. He shared, “It was a fantastic gathering to be a part of. I was able to present about the Barrier Island Program, learn more about creation care across the wider Episcopal world, and meet some chickens and pigs. Very thankful for the Procter Center for hosting me for the 2026 ECCG!” 👏
