Childhood isn’t something to rush through.

At Garden State Classical Academy, our cutoff for each grade is September 1st. This means our preschool children are given something increasingly rare: another full year to grow before formal schooling begins.

Another year to play.
Another year to wonder.
Another year to build confidence, language, friendships, independence, and a genuine love of learning.

For many families, this is exactly what they have been searching for. Their child may technically be old enough for Kindergarten elsewhere, but they know in their hearts that eligible and ready are not always the same thing.

Our PK4 year is not a year of waiting. It is a rich, beautiful year of becoming. It is filled with stories, songs, nature, movement, meaningful work, early academics, and plenty of time to simply be four and five.

Because there is no prize for starting formal school first.

But there can be an extraordinary gift in giving childhood a little more time.

This week, the entire Garden State Classical Academy faculty gathered at Hillsdale College for its annual Summer Conference which is a privilege made possible through our status as a Hillsdale College Candidate Member School.

As a Candidate Member School, GSCA receives ongoing training, mentorship, curriculum support, and professional development directly from Hillsdale’s K-12 Education Office as we work toward full Member School status. Our teachers and leadership spent time learning from master educators, refining their craft, and deepening their understanding of American classical education rooted in intellectual, moral, and civic virtue.

The result? Better teaching. Stronger classrooms. Richer lessons. A school culture intentionally ordered toward truth, goodness, and beauty.

We are grateful to be part of a nationwide network committed to restoring excellence in education and even more grateful for the families who trust us with their children.

One year ago, this was a vision. Today, it is a community.

This week we celebrated our first year together with awards and laughter, beach days and Color Wars, water play and Donuts with Dad, and our first Annual Gala.

But what we celebrate most is not the events. It is the children who have grown, the families who have trusted us, the teachers who have poured themselves out, and the countless ways God has been faithful through it all.

Our Founding Year is coming to a close, but the story is only beginning.

Thank you for helping build something beautiful.

As Memorial Day Weekend begins, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

In a world that moves quickly, we are grateful for moments like these. Moments to reflect, to give thanks, and to teach our children the meaning of sacrifice, courage, and love of country.

Our students wore red, white, and blue with joyful hearts, reminded that the freedoms they enjoy were secured at a great cost.

May this weekend be filled with gratitude, family, rest, and remembrance.
