Some of our folks were out and about in Northern VA this weekend for a birthday celebration. They stopped at Old Farm Winery at Hartland (special shout out to Emma!) for the Welcome Here program and enjoyed a tasting, a glass or two of Chardonnay, and the live music 🎶 They also spotted the AWS Professional Member plaque and sent photos!

Like other wines in this series, Vinho Verde is not the name of a grape but rather a wine region in northern Portugal. Meaning "green wine", the name refers to the youthful wines typically ready for drinking 3-6 months after harvest. They are usually white wines, but red and rosé are permitted, and they usually have a slight effervescence. Crisp and refreshing and perfect for a summer's day!

Sauternes - A botrytized, rich, sweet wine from Bordeaux that is truly a collaboration between nature and winemaker. This misty region creates the perfect conditions for noble rot, which concentrates the sugar and flavor leading to delicious honey, marmalade notes. The grapes traditionally used include Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and often Muscadelle and Sauvignon Gris. A luscious wine that ages incredibly.
