🎬✨ Spirit Week, Day 2: Dress Like Your Favorite Movie Character!

Our first- and second-year students had fun showing off their favorite characters today. Everyone brought their own level of movie magic, and we snapped a photo with the students who joined in!

We even had a Harry Potter moment of our own: Dr. Reedy and second-year student Jayson showed up in matching wizard style. When Jayson’s lightning bolt needed to go, the Program Director’s magic goniometer wand came to the rescue. 🪄📐

Thanks to everyone who joined the fun!

A new chapter for LackawannaPTAprogram program and for Dr. Reedy! After serving as Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education for the past 7 years, Ashley has transitioned into the role of Program Director.

“Watching our students grow into confident, compassionate future PTAs is one of the most rewarding parts of my work. I’m excited to support them and help our program continue to grow.”

Join us in celebrating Ashley’s new role! 💙

Listening is one of the most important skills a PTA can bring to a patient conversation—and our students got to practice it in our new course, PTA 221: Professional Issues👂

The conversation took a fun turn when one student shared their appreciation for frozen grapes! 🍇😄 Then we shifted to a challenging case scenario: a PTA had spoken unprofessionally to a patient. As a class, we discussed strategies that could help make the conversation more respectful and productive in the future.

Professional communication takes practice, reflection, and a willingness to keep learning. Great discussion, everyone!

For Balance and Fall Awareness Week last week, our PTA students took on a one-leg balance challenge! 🦵⚖️

It was a fun way to focus on balance and fall awareness—and to see how challenging a simple everyday task can be. Great work to everyone who gave it a try!

Rolling into a new perspective! ♿

Our Introduction to PTA students recently experienced what it is like to navigate Tobin Hall while using a wheelchair. This real-life learning activity challenged these first year students to consider accessibility, identify environmental barriers, and problem-solve their way through everyday situations.

By stepping—or rolling—into their future patients’ shoes, our students gained a deeper appreciation for the challenges individuals with mobility limitations may encounter. Experiences like this help shape compassionate, thoughtful, and patient-centered future physical therapist assistants! 💙 Professor K is the best!

Learning ROM… but make it a dance. 💃🕺😂

Our second-year PTA students had a little too much fun in Therapeutic Exercise Lab while reviewing the different types of range of motion! From active ROM ➡️ active-assisted ROM ➡️ passive ROM, they put their knowledge into action—and even created their own AAROM dance along the way. 😂👏

Who says learning can’t be fun?! We love seeing our students laugh, collaborate, and get hands-on while building the clinical skills they’ll use with future patients. 💪🦴

From first-semester nerves to summer internship ready. 🖤💙

Today marks the last day of classes before our first year PTA students before they head out for summer internships, and we can’t help but look back on just how far they’ve come. From unforgettable moments like teaming up with nursing students during massage lab to all the laughter, learning, teamwork, and growth along the way… this semester has been one for the books.

These memories are just the beginning. Now it’s time to take those skills beyond the classroom and into the real world. We are so proud of each and every one of you for how much you’ve grown, supported one another, and prepared for this next chapter!!

Go shine, Class of 2027 — your journey is just getting started. 💪✨

Last night was one for the books ✨

Our second-year PTA students officially celebrated their pinning ceremony, and what an incredible night it was. We are beyond proud of each graduate and all the hard work, growth, resilience, and heart that brought them to this moment.

From proud tears to endless laughter, positive vibes filled every corner of Pop-Up Wisteria. It was a night to celebrate not only future PTAs, but the amazing individuals they’ve become along the way.

Congratulations, Class of 2026 — your Lackawanna College PTA family is so proud of you. Your future is bright, and this is only the beginning 💙🎓
