Meet Heather (Gazella) Messina '08, MPA '11, PhD '24—a three-time Marywood alumna whose lifelong commitment to learning has shaped a career dedicated to leadership and innovation.

From earning her bachelor's degree in Communication Arts to completing her Ph.D. in Strategic Leadership, Heather's Marywood journey reflects the power of continuous growth. Today, she serves as Associate Director of Research Administration in the College of Health at Lehigh University, where she's helping build strong, sustainable research operations and making a lasting impact in higher education.

We're proud to celebrate alumni like Heather, whose dedication to learning and leadership continues to inspire the Marywood community.

Marywood University and Scranton Shakespeare Festival are joining forces, with SSF becoming Marywood’s resident professional theatre company.

This partnership will bring professional theatre, creative opportunities, and hands-on experiences directly to our students and campus, connecting the new School of Communication with working professionals in the arts.
