🌟 Este año colaboraremos con Giving Back to the Community para animar a jóvenes/ estudiantes latinos/hispanos de Scranton y West Scranton high school a participar en el primer Concurso de Arte Juvenil de Herencia Hispana organizado por Giving Back to the Community en el Hotel ANZ el sábado 10 de octubre de 2026. ¡Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de ganar premios en efectivo y material de arte de 1º, 2º y 3º lugar! ¡El tema será "Colores de mi Cultura"! ✨ We will be partnering with Giving Back to the Community this year to encourage local Scranton high school and West Scranton high school Latino/Hispanic youth to participate in the first Hispanic Heritage Youth Art Contest hosted by Giving Back to the Community at ANZ Hotel on Saturday, October 10th, 2026! The high school youth will have a chance to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash and art supplies prizes ! The theme will be “Colores de mi Cultura” (My Culture’s Colors)! The Artwork type will be physical canvasses ( 18 x 24 or 20 x 28)! 🌟 Last week, the S.T.A.R.S program partnered with , Scranton Area Community Foundation and Outreach Center for Community Resources to take multiple local high school youth to the annual “ Adapting to the Future of Work 2026 Convening” in New York City! The youth participated in workshops that looked into what the future of work actually looks like for young adults! ⭐️ thank you JobsFirst NYC, , and for your support and partnership! It truly takes a village! 🫶🏽⭐️

A las familias Quienes necesitan ayuda con materials escolares Giving Back to the Community abrira La inscripción para su campaña de material escolar llamado “Empacar una Mochila” el lunes 3 de agosto y cerrará cuando registren a 400 niños!

💛 Pack-a- Backpack School Supply Campaign
Registration for the Pack a Backpack school supply campaign will open on Monday, August 3 and will close once we reach 400 children.

We want to remind all parents that our work depends on the support we receive from our community, local businesses, and grants. We stretch every resource as far as we can to help as many children as possible.

The reality is that the current economy is impacting EVERYONE, and nonprofits feel it too. Because of this, we must set a limit on how many children we can assist this year.

We know it may feel disappointing for parents who miss the registration, but this is how the process works. It is each parent’s responsibility to stay informed about when registration opens and closes.

Community love keeps moving forward and so do we. 💛

🌟 Here are some of the many final pottery and tapestry art pieces from the STARS middle summer camp art workshops led by Experience Pottery and Dr. Roxana Curiel! This was an opportunity for youth to celebrate their heritage and culture! Their art pieces will be showcased during Comunidad Latina-Giving Back to the Community Hispanic Heritage Month youth Art contest! Thank you and Lackawanna River Heritage Valley for your support! 🌟

Este verano, el Distrito Escolar de Scranton organizará su primer campamento de verano Career Quest para estudiantes de educación intermedia (5to-8vo grado)!

Calling all Scranton School District students in grades 5-8!!

This summer, the Scranton School District will host its first Career Quest Summer Camp for intermediate school students!

During this 4 day event, students attending will be exposed to different career opportunities in fields such as engineering, food service, healthcare, and civil service.
