A Celebration of Life for Bob Pearce will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Georgetown First United Methodist Church, 1280 Lexington Road, Georgetown, KY 40324. Friends and family are invited to gather from 11-2 pm preceding the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Scott County Humane Society: 751 Slone Drive #13, Georgetown, KY 40324.

Just a reminder that the 2026 Burley & Dark To***co Producer Association and Council for Burley To***co Annual Meeting is Thursday, January 15 in Bowling Green, KY at the Holiday Inn University Plaza and Sloan Conference Center. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m., Central. Our meeting coincides with the 2026 KY Commodity Conference. We will have discussions on our industry’s outlook, crop insurance, to***co research focus and much more. All growers are invited, and encouraged to attend. Lunch is provided. We hope to see you there!

The Burley & Dark To***co Producer Association and Council for Burley To***co will hold their joint Annual Meeting on January 15, 2026, at the Holiday Inn University Placa and Conference Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The meeting will begin with registration at 9:00 a.m., Central with the meeting call to order at 9:30. Topics important to the future of to***co production will be discussed. The program will include updates from Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell, and industry update from Kimberly Foley who is the Executive Director of To***co Associates, a discussion of to***co research objectives with Dr. Ling Yuan and Matt Craft of the Kentucky To***co Research & Development Center and more. The afternoon session will be the business session of the two organizations with the election of directors and officers for the coming year. The meeting will once again be held in conjunction with the Kentucky Commodity Conference, so producers are urged to register for the conference and luncheon prior to January 14, especially if you want to attend the Commodity Luncheon where USDA Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Stephen Vaden is the invited speaker. There will be a To***co Research Focus Group meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Hardin County Cooperative Extension Service Office at 111 Opportunity Way in Elizabethtown, Kentucky beginning at 10:00 a.m., Eastern. The goal of this meeting is to identify areas of research that the Kentucky To***co Research and Development Center (KTRDC) and University of Kentucky Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment can implement that will be beneficial to growers. We encourage any to***co grower who has an interest in the future of to***co to attend the Focus Group Meeting tomorrow in Elizabethtown. We anticipate the meeting to last about 2 hours and will end with lunch provided. Following lunch, there will be a joint Burley & Dark To***co Producer Association and Council for Burley To***co Board of Directors meeting beginning at 1:00 p.m. Producers are welcome to stay and attend that meeting as well.

Great meeting last week with Congressman James Comer and Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell concerning issues important to to***co production. The Burley & Dark To***coProducer Association, Council for Burley To***co, Burley Stabilization Corporation, Kentucky Farm Bureau and University of Kentucky all met with the Congressman and Commissioner to discuss trade and labor issues. It was a very productive meeting with further meeting and action coming soon.
