This week, our summer school class blasted off into an exciting Space Week! We practiced sorting syllables using space-themed vocabulary and put our knowledge to the test with a fun space-themed Four Corners Kahoot game. Students used their imaginations as they wrote about what they would do if they were an astronaut for a day. We also got creative by making astronaut helmet crafts and finished the week with delicious fruit rocket kabobs.

🌊 Ocean Week was a splash-tastic adventure! We dove right into learning as we researched and wrote sea animal reports. Did you know an octopus has three hearts? Or that a shark can have five rows of teeth? 🐙🦈
We also practiced our comprehension skills with Beach Ball Story Recall, enjoyed reading and learning about ocean creatures, and wrapped up the week by making a delicious ocean-themed trail mix while taking a virtual field trip to an aquarium! 🌊🐠🥨

📚✨ Summer is the perfect time to secure your child’s future! 🌟 Desert Canyon Elementary is enrolling Kindergarten-5th grade students! 🐾 Let your little cubbies shine bright! 🌞✨

Camping Week was full of adventure and learning last week at DCES summer school! Our campers searched for sight words with binoculars, played camping sight word baseball, read under our tent with flashlights and headlamps, and even made s’mores using the sun’s energy! ☀️📚🔦🍫 We had so much fun exploring, reading, and learning together while making unforgettable summer memories. 🌲❤️

Another reminder that the rest of this week are early release days with dismissal at 1:15pm each day!

Next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are early release days at DCES. Dismissal will be at 1:15pm on May 20, May 21, and May 22!
