On July 29th, our Salt River Schools teachers and staff gathered for our annual Welcome Back Breakfast. It was a morning filled with smiles, encouragement, and a great breakfast, of course! First attendant to Jr. Miss Salt River, Thaila Silverhorn provided a welcome address. After speaking, Thaila encouraged staff to join her in a social dance. Salt River Schools Education Board Chair Kyland King and Superintendent Sheryl Houston shared inspiring words reminding staff that when we root for one another, we create a stronger foundation for our students to grow, learn, and succeed. Teachers and staff then participated in a traditional rock, paper and scissors game that incorporated rooting for one another.
We were also honored to hear from keynote speaker Jacob Moore, ASU Tribal Nations Policy Institute Advisory Board member who shared the importance of American Indian education and the impact it has on our students, families and the Community.
Sapé, to our amazing speakers for their uplifting words and our SRS staff who worked behind the scene to make this great annual event happen!
