🎬 French Cinémathèque presents L’Étranger / The Stranger
Join us online on Monday, 28 September 2026 at 7:00 PM ET for a special discussion of François Ozon’s 2025 film adaptation of Albert Camus’ timeless novel, L’Étranger.
Set in 1938 French Algeria, the film follows Meursault, a man whose emotional detachment draws him into a devastating chain of events. After a fatal confrontation on a sun-drenched beach, his trial becomes as much about his apparent indifference as it is about the act itself.
After watching the film via streaming, take part in a free English-language Zoom discussion hosted by film critic and historian Beatrice Loayza, lecturer at the School of Visual Arts and contributor to The New York Times, Criterion Collection and Film Comment.
