Sitting on vacation and this won’t leave my head: Why is there so much FOMO in youth sports, and especially youth baseball? It’s ridiculous.
Travel teams, year-round showcases, private lessons, and endless highlight reels have turned what used to be a fun game into a constant race not to fall behind. Parents feel pressure to specialize early and spend big just to keep their kid “in the mix.”
The real cost shows up as burned-out kids, rising arm injuries, high dropout rates by the early teens, and families pouring time and money into a path that rarely pays off the way they hope.
Ask your kid what they actually want. Multi-sport is an advantage. More games don’t automatically translate to better players. And nobody’s Instagram timeline is your child’s developmental timeline. Protect the love of the game first.
Curious what other parents are seeing. Drop your thoughts below. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

What does it “truly” mean to play catch with a purpose?
It’s not just warming up your arm, it’s the foundation of elite performance. Every throw is a chance to sharpen mechanics, build focus, and set the tone for the entire game.
Too many players (and coaches) treat it like casual tosses… and wonder why fundamentals slip in big moments.
Parents & coaches: Teach this early. Players: Level up your daily catch.

One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed since getting into a training facility and working with athletes on speed, movement, and plyometric development is how differently multi-sport athletes move.
They tend to be more coordinated, balanced, explosive, and adaptable. Their bodies have experienced a wider variety of movement patterns, and their brains have learned to solve athletic problems in multiple environments.
Youth sports has become increasingly specialized, but athleticism isn’t built by doing the same thing year-round. Athleticism is built through exposure, variety, and competition across different sports.
Before worrying about becoming a better baseball player, focus on becoming a better athlete.
The baseball skills will come. The athletic foundation lasts forever.
