Meet Rabbi Scott Segal, one of the incredible educators joining Hebrew High this year!
Rabbi Segal has spent his career serving in rabbinic and educational roles across the country, but he’ll tell you his most important role is being Abba to Samantha and Ezra.
A Cincinnati native, Rabbi Segal was ordained at Hebrew Union College, where he also earned an M.A. in Jewish Law and Ethics. Along the way, he met his wife, Rabbi Emily Segal.
When he’s not teaching, you might find him playing drums or guitar, hiking, lifting weights, playing basketball or ultimate frisbee, drinking very good coffee, or continuing to hope that this will finally be the Bengals’ year.
He’s excited to join Hebrew High and get to know our students as they explore big questions, Jewish ideas and what all of it means in their own lives.
And you can meet Rabbi Segal in person this Tuesday at Hebrew High Opening Night!
Not registered yet? Come anyway. Opening Night is a chance for 8th–12th grade students to check out Hebrew High, meet the teachers and other students, and hear about all of the new opportunities happening this year.
Tuesday, August 25 | 6:30–8:30 PM

A first-of-its-kind learning experience is coming to Hebrew High.
This fall, Hebrew High is partnering with the Hilton Family Holocaust Education Center to introduce Building Memory, a brand-new, hands-on course for 9th and 10th grade students.
Students will explore what it means to become memory keepers for the next generation.
Through this unique partnership, students will go behind the scenes of Holocaust education in our own community, exploring survivor testimony, museum engagement, historical artifacts and the responsibility of preserving and sharing these stories in an increasingly digital world while learning from experts from HFHEC.
The first cohort begins August 25, and space is limited. A second cohort will be offered January through May 2027.
This is what we mean when we say Hebrew High is where Jewish learning grows up.

Shabbat Shalom from Hebrew High 🧡
As a new school year begins, we're reminded that learning isn't just about what happens in the classroom. It's about asking questions, building community, discovering who we are, and growing into who we're meant to become.
For Jewish teens, Hebrew High is a place to continue that journey alongside friends, mentors, and meaningful conversations that connect Jewish values to the world around them.
As you settle into new routines this school year, we hope you'll make Jewish learning part of them, too.
Registration for Hebrew High is now open. Visit bjephoenix.org/hebrew-high to learn more.

"My Hebrew High 'experience' didn’t teach me Judaism; it allowed me to discover it for myself. I was given the tools to realize my own place as a Jew and as a member in the Jewish community. The lessons taught at Hebrew High allowed me to connect with not only my peers but also myself." - Jonathan

Why Hebrew High?
We asked, and our students answered: "Hebrew High is my opportunity to really discuss Jewish thought and Jewish history. I leave every Tuesday night thinking differently than when I arrived." - AL, '26
