INFO: The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a highly competitive scholarship program through which selected German young professionals come to the U.S. for one year to learn about U.S. culture through study, work and family life. SCC has been hosting 1-2 German young professionals since 2000. You or someone you know can be a part of their experience in the U.S. and at the same time, will learn about the German culture.
This year’s exchange student is a 19-year old female who will be staying here from mid-August until June 2023. Her professional field is Industrial Clerk. During the first semester, she will be enrolled in courses at SCC and then will work full-time during the second semester. Professional Field: Industrial clerk. She comes from a small village near Stuttgart, where she lives with her parents, sister, and 2 brothers. As a child, her family lived in Mexico for 3.5 years, where she learned how to speak Spanish fluently, in addition to her English, German, and French. She completed her apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and now works in the automotive industry as an international salesperson. She is very involved with her church as an altar server. In her free time, she enjoys playing field hockey in a local sports club, doing yoga, spending time outdoors, gardening, traveling, cooking, baking, and photography. She does not smoke and tries to eat vegetarian.

Congratulations to our fabulous leader, Therese Tendick!
Today, she was honored with the Arizona International Educators (AIE) Lifetime Achievement Award! This award is not given out every year, but rather only when there is a deserving recipient. Therese was honored as someone who not only has served in the international education field, but has also served in AIE and also contributed significantly to the AIE community. It is no wonder that after 22.5 years working at SCC in the International Education Programs office and Center for Civic & Global Engagement, 5 years in International Graduate Admissions at ASU and 9 years as the Associate Dean at Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management that Therese is well known and cherished in the IE community by many and would be a deserving recipient of this award!
Therese retired last month and is already missed by many. Thank you, Therese, for your many years of service to the international education community.
