Checked into the beautifully renovated salmon hatchery in Mörrum, now transformed into a hotel overlooking one of Europe’s most famous salmon rivers.

The perfect place to slow down and enjoy a bottle of Fattoria Nittardi CAB from Tuscany. Rich with dark berries, spice, and a touch of oak, it’s a wine with depth and character—much like the Mörrum River itself. Calm and beautiful on the surface, yet carrying a powerful story beneath.

A glass of Tuscan wine, the sound of the river, and a warm summer evening. Life is pretty good.

A quick stop in Kristianstad turned into a walk down memory lane. This is where I went to college, so of course I had to swing by my old apartment and see what had changed—and what hadn’t.

We spent a few hours wandering through the city, visiting the magnificent Heliga Trefaldighetskyrkan. Standing beneath the soaring ceilings and listening to the majestic organ, it’s easy to understand why the church is considered one of the finest Renaissance churches in Scandinavia. Built by the Danish king Christian IV when Kristianstad was founded in 1614, it remains the crown jewel of the city.

One of the things I love most about traveling is learning the stories behind the places you visit. Kristianstad played an important role during the Scanian War in the 1670s, when Skåne stood at the center of the struggle between Denmark and Sweden. Walking the streets today, it’s hard to imagine the city once served as a heavily fortified border town.

A few hours well spent in a city that holds a lot of memories—and a lot more history than most people realize.
