Choosing to listen to a book rather than reading it with just your eye balls has been shown to have benefits for all children, but can be particularly helpful for children with dyslexia. Some may worry that listening to audiobooks will slow down the development of their child's reading skills, but you can take comfort in knowing that studies have shown that audiobooks actually support the growth of reading. Paired with strong structured literacy instruction that includes teaching systematic phonics , audiobooks can provide a path to enhance a child's ability to grow in the areas of word exposure, vocabulary, background knowledge and overall comprehension of the material.
