It is wonderful to see that the Spire can be reused as a monument on the grounds of Paradise Valley city hall.
We have an update on the Spire!
On May 14th, the Mayor and Council officially approved a permanent location for the historic Ascension Lutheran Church spire at the Paradise Valley Town Hall complex as a standalone landmark.
Designed in the early 1960s by William Wesley Peters, a longtime apprentice and son-in-law of Frank Lloyd Wright, the spire was saved ahead of the church’s demolition through efforts by the Save the Spire citizens group, Town leaders, and community support.
Scott Jarson has played a leading role in the Save the Spire citizens group since its formation. In August 2024, we shared a reel showing the spire atop Ascension Lutheran Church just before removal, followed by photos of the spire being carefully removed and preserved as part of a coordinated effort involving 180 Degrees Design + Build and other dedicated project partners.
The Save the Spire group, council members, and Town staff worked together to refine the final resolution after concerns were raised about the monument’s height and base design.
We’re thankful to everyone who helped support this meaningful preservation effort. Our next update will share what’s ahead and the steps needed to prepare, fundraise, and install the Spire at its new home.
