๐ฆ SCIENCE CLASS JUST GOT COOLER! ๐ฅถ๐ฌ
This week in science, we didn't just study chemistry... we ATE it! We made homemade ice cream in a bag to learn all about phase changes and freezing point depression. ๐
Here is the scoop on how it actually works. Ice by itself sits at 0ยฐC, which is cold, but not quite cold enough to freeze milk and sugar into creamy goodness before the ice melts. That is where our secret weapon comes in: rock salt.
When we added salt to the ice, it lowered the freezing point of the water. This is a cool chemical process called freezing point depression. The salt forces the ice to melt, and to do that, it has to absorb heat from its surroundingsโwhich includes our milk mixture! The ice bag gets super-duper cold, way below freezing, turning our liquid milk into solid ice cream in just a few minutes. ๐งโก๏ธ๐ฆ
Shoutout to everyone's forearms for surviving 10 solid minutes of aggressive shaking. Totally worth it! Max absorption of deliciousness achieved. ๐ซ๐

๐ค And thatโs a wrap on Independent Investigation Presentations! ๐ฌโจ
Our incredible Independent Investigations elective students just crushed their end-of-semester presentations! ๐ก
For those who donโt know, this specialized, project-based class is all about pushing boundaries. These brilliant learners took the wheelโchoosing their own personalized topics, diving into deep research, and bringing their ideas to life through hands-on, student-led applications. From critical thinking to creative problem-solving, they proved that when you give students the freedom to explore, amazing things happen. ๐ง ๐
