At PVCS our goal is to build a strong community. Ms. Debbie and Ms. Sara work as a team to support teachers, parents and students.
Director - Ms. Debbie
Debbie has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in elementary education, with an early childhood endorsement, and taught kindergarten and first grade in the Madison School District for six years. She began teaching at PVCS in 2005. After eight years teaching two and three year olds, Debbie joined the admin team, assisting our previous director. In 2021, Debbie moved into the director position. She just celebrated her 21st anniversary at PVCS on March 29th.
Assistant Director - Ms. Sara
Sara's journey at PVCS began in 2014 as the parent of two preschoolers. In 2016, she had the opportunity to step into a teaching role as a Twos teacher and taught at PVCS for 6 years. She left PVCS to pursue a master's degree in Family and Human Development. Over the past few years, she has gained valuable experience working with the Quality First program, where she evaluated early childhood education programs and coached teachers to implement best practices. Sara rejoined the team at PVCS in January of this year as our assistant director.

Learning letters is an important part of building the foundation for reading, writing and spelling. Our students have the opportunity to learn letters through a variety of activities: reading books, puzzles, games, sensory bin activities and art projects.

We have developed a Pre Kindergarten program that is very unique in that it has the benefit of using two large classrooms for one group of students. The first room is dedicated to learning and kindergarten readiness where the kids spend the morning doing teacher-led circle time, group activities, and a daily project. We never use “one-size-fits-all” worksheets, but rather teachers modify open-ended projects to meet the individual needs and development level of each student. The second room is dedicated to learning through play and enjoying meals together. Activities include building with blocks, dramatic play, art center, a sensory bin that is rotated weekly, light table, puzzles and games, a science station, quiet corner, and the always popular loft fort.
Our pre k teachers provide a safe place for students to try new things and develop important life long skills. With their combined experience of over 30 years in early childhood education, the pre k teachers help children develop independence, perseverance, problem solving, creativity, fine motor skills, communication skills for conflict resolution and appropriate ways to express their emotions and get their needs met, as well as early reading, math and science skills.
We are now enrolling for Summer 2026 and the 2026-2027 school year. Message us to schedule a tour!

Each year our pre k students draw a self portrait in August and in January. This is a great way to show the progress students have made in their fine motor skills and attention to details. Assessing students and reflecting on their progress helps teachers see how far students have come and helps them plan for future lessons. The students love seeing the 2 portraits displayed side by side and celebrating how much growth they have made!

Everyday students have opportunities for pretend play in our classrooms: baby dolls, kitchen, zoo animals, doctor, dress up, and so much more. Dramatic play helps students develop social skills in a fun and engaging way.
