Today, we say goodbye to a very beloved member of the Scottsdale Artists’ School family. Sweet Count Chocula. Though Count belonged to our Program Director, Danielle, it always felt like he belonged to all of us. With his calm spirit, gentle presence, and soulful eyes, he quietly became part of the school’s rhythm. Even those who claimed they “weren’t dog people” quickly fell under his spell.
Count greeted students, instructors, and staff with quiet kindness. Some visiting instructors came looking for him before they came looking for us. And every afternoon around 3:00, he would find his favorite chair for his daily nap: usually accompanied by the soft sound of snoring that somehow made the school feel even more like home. The halls and studios will feel different without him. But we are so grateful for the comfort, joy, and love he gave so freely to everyone who walked through our doors.
Rest peacefully, sweet Count Chocula. You were deeply loved and will be deeply missed. ❤️
