I heard Jenna Fischer describe a “job role” in a way I’ll never forget.

I saw something on Dr. Phil years ago that I still remember like it was yesterday.

He had a couple on the show—hoarders, in their 70s. Their house was tunnels of boxes. And they had basically decided, “Well… this is just how we live.”

Then Dr. Phil brought out a giant paper tape measure on the floor. Zero to old age.

He had the man stand on his age (early 70s) and said, “Look back at all the life you’ve lived… now look forward.”

And the space ahead was shockingly small.

The man paused and said, “Okay… you’ve got my attention.”

And from that moment, they changed everything. They stopped tolerating a life that didn’t fit. They bought a motorhome and went to live.

Some moments don’t “motivate” you.
They wake you up.
