Some phrases make no sense if you translate them word-for-word, like this one, which literally means “Nothing happens”, but it really means “No worries”.¡No pasa nada!: No worries, It’s not a big deal.
Example: Ana: Llego tarde a la fiesta, amigo, lo siento.
Javier: ¡No pasa nada!

Every month we like to do a client spotlight to highlight our outstanding students and their journeys! This month we're spotlighting Daniel Crowley!!🤩🤩
Daniel has been studying Spanish for over fifteen years! He has been a student at Magnus Language since January of last year. Daniel started in our intermediate conversation class as a refresher. He then joined our book club last fall, and now he goes to all of our wine tastings.🍷🍷
We asked Daniel a few fun questions, which you can read below!👇👇
What inspired you to study Spanish?
“I decided to try for a master's degree in literature in 2001. I discovered I needed fluency in a second language. I had studied Latin and French in school but forgot everything. Spanish made more sense in Arizona”
How has learning Spanish changed your life?
“I've learned to understand the Mexican culture with our neighbors to the south, whom I used to ignore. Also, how South American countries hate us”
What are some tips you can offer students of Spanish?
“I've maxed out Rosetta Stone and Duo Lingo. I've taken every class at SCC, and some at ASU, but News in Slow Spanish is the absolute best app out there. Class at Magnus Institute with Rosalinda is also great”
Where is your favorite place in the Spanish-speaking world? Why do you love going there?
“Argentina. I have been in every South American country but Venezuela. Argentina is the best because it's inexpensive. In my first year in Córdoba, I spoke no Spanish. They don't get many Gringos in Argentina, so I was a novelty”

There are lots of phrases in Spanish that use “tener”. Here is one of the most useful ones: Tener ganas de: I feel like (doing something). Example: Tengo ganas de salir a bailar el viernes. I feel like going out dancing Friday.
