The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board has unanimously approved a resolution calling for a $375 million special bond election on November 3, 2026.

Attend a Community Informational Town Hall tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Desert Mountain High School from 6-7 p.m. to learn about the proposed investments.

The proposed bond program includes investments in:

• Learning Environment Improvements
• Technology Enhancements
• Site Lifecycle Renovations
• School Safety & Security
• Transportation
• Administrative Capital Improvements

*Bond funds may only be used for voter-approved capital projects and cannot be used for teacher salaries, employee benefits, or day-to-day operating expenses.

IMPORTANT DATES:

• Voter Registration Deadline: October 5, 2026
• Election Day: November 3, 2026

Last month, our Mountainside students explored the IB Learner Profile attribute Open-Minded through some fun questions that definitely sparked a few debates!

❓Does pineapple belong on pizza?
❓Would you rather fly or be invisible?
❓Would you rather travel 100 years into the future or 100 years into the past?

Students chose a perspective, justified their thinking, listened to opposing viewpoints, and even tried to change one another’s minds!

It was a fun way to practice an important IB MYP skill: recognizing that people can look at the same question very differently. Being Open-Minded doesn’t mean we have to agree, it means being willing to listen, consider another perspective, and perhaps even rethink our own. ⭐️

💙🌱 Healthy Habits + Amazing Community!

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTO for supporting our Blue Zones School initiative! What a great way to start the day last Friday with healthy treats, smiles, and a little extra encouragement to make choices that support our health and well-being! 🍎🍓✨

This connects to our IB MYP, where students learn that the choices we make can positively impact ourselves, our community, and the world around us. Through experiences like these, healthy habits become more than something we talk about, they become part of our everyday school culture.

Thank you, PTO, for helping us create a community where our students can learn, grow, and thrive! ♥️ 🐾

Today during early release, our amazing Mountainside staff took time to celebrate our wins, focus on our academic goals, and collaborate for student success!

We dug into our beginning-of-the-year student data, working together by grade level to identify strengths, opportunities, and next steps. We also set our sights on an important schoolwide goal: 93% attendance!

Great things happen when educators come together, share ideas, and learn from one another! ⭐️

As an IB MYP school, our Mountainside students work every day to uphold the IB Learner Profile attributes. This month, we are focusing on what it means to be Open-Minded!

Being open-minded means we:
✨ Listen to and respect different perspectives
✨ Appreciate different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences
✨ Consider new ideas and ways of thinking
✨ Learn from people who may see the world differently than we do
✨ Are willing to rethink our ideas and grow from new experiences
