If you're considering Airbnb and think your village won't allow it, I'm here to tell you they probably do.

When my husband and I first started our Airbnb business, we realized that many village's first reaction was no because they didn't understand it or worried about numerous neighborhood complaints.

How we worked with the village is we asked if they allowed short term rentals, e.g. 30 days. When they did, we proceeded with Airbnbing our home. We just changed the minimum stay to 30 days and off we went.

This change in the length of the stay actually was a blessing. We only had to prepare our home, at most, once a month. It drew a much better guest. Guests were grandparents visiting their adult children, families that had damage in their home and needed a place to stay during their repairs, or families building a house nearby. We discovered a new segment of customers who appreciated our home, and were very willing to pay the premium price of $7,000-$11,000/month!

Do you think startng a business is going to be so much work. This one thought can cause you to over complicate things.
