SCSD2 Announces PreK/K Enrollment

Mark your calendars now! SCSD2 will be holding Preschool and Kindergarten Enrollment sessions on Tuesday, April 12th, and Thursday, April 14th from 4-7 PM at Scottsburg Middle School.

Children who are four (4) years old by August 1 are eligible for our On My Way PreK half-day preschool which is offered in all four elementary schools. Preschool space is limited so be sure to attend this event! Contact Emily Jordan, SCSD2 Preschool Coordinator at 812-752-8953 or [email protected] if you have questions.

Children who are five (5) years old by August 1 are eligible for our full-day kindergarten program also offered in every elementary school. Information about early admission for kids turning five between Aug. 2 and Oct. 1 will be available at the enrollment session.

We've got lots of fun planned for our event. You'll meet teachers, get Path to PreK/K parent information, explore a school bus, pick up an activity bag, visit the family photo booth, and enjoy a free Kona Ice treat. Kindergarteners will also receive their official Class of 2035 t-shirts! Please join us so you don't miss out on all the info and all the fun!

Additional details to come, but wanted to share tentative dates for Donuts with Dad. Dads with students in multiple grades will simply pick one of their students scheduled times and we will have all other grade level children join you at that time.

Sign up forms will be sent home with students in the next couple days.

PM PreK 12:00-12:30 (lunch instead of donuts)

Kindergarten: 8:15-8:45
3rd Grade: 9:00-9:30

Today was a difficult day for me. After working at Johnson elementary for 11 years, I said good bye to my littles. I will be moving to the Pilot Preschool Program on the High School Campus to help continue to build and grow our Districts preschool program. I have to admit there were many tears today. Most of them mine. Please know that leaving was not an easy decision for me.

I value the time that I got to spend with your child. I value the lessons I have learned from being their teacher. I am blessed that I got to be part of their first public school experience. I tell my kids, that my job is plant seeds of knowledge that will grow as the learn new things. The foundation that we are building in preschool will help them learn and grow through their whole lives. They surprise me every day with the little things they pick up on and learn. Their smiles and their hugs always make my days brighter and better. Thank you for sharing your children and trusting them in my care. I know that Mrs. Hubbard will love them, and hold them dear as the school year continues. She spent the last two days getting to know your children, and getting acclimated to the classroom.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas break, and Christmas holiday.

This morning the Am Class watched Santa arrive at the school. He was waiting in the lobby when PM class arrived today!
