Our seniors had a great opportunity to attend a college fair hosted by Northeast Alabama Community College! Students connected with college recruiters, asked questions, and gathered information from more than 30 colleges and universities.

A big thank you to Bobby Kelly with Lincoln Tech/Nashville Auto Diesel College for spending time with our students today!

We appreciate Bobby sharing information about the many post-secondary education and career opportunities available to students interested in automotive, diesel, skilled trades, and other hands-on career fields.

Experiences like this help our students explore their options, ask questions, and see the many different paths available after high school. Thank you, Bobby, for investing in our students and their futures!

Congratulations to Class of 2015 alum Riley McMillan! SHS is proud of you and all that you have accomplished. We love celebrating the continued success of our Wildcat alumni!

Today, we are proud to announce that Riley McMillan has been promoted to Construction Operations Manager in Huntsville. His promotion reflects both the momentum of our construction team in the market and the steady leadership Riley has brought to its growth.

“This is well-deserved,” says Jeff Peterman, Region Manager, Construction for Michael Hatcher & Associates. “Over time, Riley has consistently demonstrated an ability to take on new challenges and a commitment to quality and excellence for our team and customers. I’m looking forward to seeing him succeed in this new role.”

🎓 Alumni Spotlight: Johny Felix, Class of 2024! 🌟

We love seeing work-based learning come full circle!

Johny Felix was part of the very first group of SHS students who worked hard to help get the Redstone Federal Credit Union branch at SHS up and running. As a student teller, Johny gained valuable real-world experience that helped prepare him for what came next.

After graduating from SHS in 2024, Johny attended Northeast Alabama Community College, where he earned an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration. Today, he is putting his education and experience to work as a full-time Teller at the Scottsboro branch of Redstone Federal Credit Union!

We are so proud of Johny and all that he has accomplished. His journey is a great example of what can happen when students have opportunities to learn, work, and build career-ready skills while still in high school.

🔋🏗️ Engineering in Action!

Coach Cornutt’s 3rd Block put their engineering skills to the test today with the Battery Load-Bearing Structure Engineering Design Challenge!

Students were given limited supplies and specific design constraints, then challenged to build a structure capable of supporting as many AAA, AA, and D batteries as possible. Through designing, building, collaboration, testing, and problem-solving, students got hands-on experience with structural stability, load capacity, and the engineering design process. ⚙️💡
