They did it!!!

Avian Moreno, MLT(ASCP) and Eric Vinton, MLT(AMT) just BOTH recently passed their boards to become certified !!

Becoming a certified medical laboratory technician (MLT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and the American Medical Technologists (AMT) is NOT easy. This is a very difficult boards examination, and these two WNCC graduates put in a lot of hours preparing for certification.

We'd like to congratulate both of these WNCC Med Lab Tech students for their hard work and dedication to the field. After all, behind every result is a laboratorian.

🩺 Cross-training in action! Medical Lab Tech & Phlebotomy Instructor Jennifer Mills visited PN and ADN students in Sidney and Scottsbluff this week, creating a great opportunity for WNCC’s healthcare programs to collaborate, share knowledge, and learn together. 🩸💉💙

💉🩸 **FUN FACT FRIDAY!**🩸🩹

If you’re squeamish around blood, surgery probably sounds like your WORST nightmare.

But here’s the funny thing…

Surgical technologists learn to look at the OR differently. Instead of thinking, “OMG THAT’S BLOOD!” they’re thinking:

🧠 What instrument do I need?
🧤 Is my field sterile?
👀 What’s the next step?
🧮 Are my counts correct?

Basically… **you eventually become way too comfortable with things most people would run screaming from.**

The countdown is ON! ⏰ Our Surgical Technology students are wrapping up their time in the lab because CLINICALS START NEXT WEEK! 🏥🎉

These students have been working hard—learning instruments, practicing sterile technique, mastering surgical skills, and getting those nerves (and excitement!) ready for the real operating room. Now it’s time to take everything they’ve learned and put it into action! 👏🏼🧤

To our students: GOOD LUCK as you start clinicals! 💙 We are SO proud of how far you’ve come, and we can’t wait to watch you grow into confident, knowledgeable surgical technologists. Remember—you’ve got this!

🎉 WE’RE BACK, BABY! 🎉

Week ONE of Surgical Technology is officially in the books—and WOW, what a week! 🩺✨
Our students jumped right back into the action, and our lab has been BUSY! From learning, practicing, laughing, asking ALL the questions, and getting those hands ready for the OR, it’s safe to say we’re off to a fantastic start! 💪🧤🩵

And just when we thought the week couldn’t get any more exciting…we had a special visit from Senator Pete Ricketts! 🇺🇸 We loved getting to show him what our Surgical Technology students are learning and how our program is preparing the next generation of surgical professionals right here in Western Nebraska!
