We are excited to welcome Ms. Elise Freesh to the Baymonte family as our new 5th and 6th grade science teacher! Many of our students may recognize her, as she has been serving as a substitute teacher at Baymonte and is already a familiar face on campus.

Elise grew up in the San Jose area. Her love for teaching began at the age of 14 when she started working at outdoor summer camps. She then moved to Santa Cruz to pursue her degree in marine biology at UC Santa Cruz and remained there to earn her master’s degree in education. Elise taught health and biology to freshmen at Aptos High School for five years. She is excited to share her love for all things creation with the 5th and 6th graders at Baymonte.

Outside of the classroom, you might find Elise horseback riding, scuba diving, gardening, hanging out with her pets, or somewhere out in the woods showing people cool plants and rocks.

Please join us in giving Ms. Freesh a warm Baymonte welcome! We are excited to have her join our community in this new role!

Please join us in welcoming Mary Amadon to the Baymonte team!

Mary is joining us this upcoming school year as a middle school ELA teacher. She grew up in Washington State but spent a large portion of her childhood in Scotts Valley. This past May, she graduated from North Park University in Chicago with degrees in Secondary Education, English Literature, and Middle Grades Education. Throughout her practicum, Mary taught 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, but she fell in love with teaching middle school during her placement in a sixth-grade classroom.

Mary has a tight-knit family, including two younger brothers and lots of cousins who are more like siblings! She has spent the past several summers working as a camp counselor at Frontier Ranch. During her free time, Mary can be found spending time with friends and family, going on adventures, and hunting for the best breakfast burrito.

Mary is so excited to be joining the Baymonte community, and we are thrilled to welcome her to our middle school team. We look forward to the knowledge and enthusiasm she will bring to the classroom this year!

What a day of fun and friendly competition! Our K-5 students raced, jumped, and cheered their way through Track and Field Day, while our amazing 6th and 7th grade volunteers stepped up to help everything run smoothly. Thanks to Mrs. Fernald for making it all happen!

Part 2: Our kindergarteners and 8th graders swapped wisdom and encouragement as they shared advice for the years ahead. These sweet conversations remind us how special it is to grow together as a school family.
