🌊🏗️ Mrs. Knight’s 2nd grade students put on their engineer hats and got to work designing and building shoreline protection systems! Their mission? Protect their lighthouses from falling into the ocean! 🌊🏠

Through hands-on learning, teamwork, and problem-solving, our young engineers explored how shoreline protection systems can help prevent erosion and keep our coastlines safe. They planned, designed, and compared multiple solutions in an effort to slow or prevent water from changing the shape of the land. We are so proud of their creativity, collaboration, and hard work! 🛠️🌎💛💙

🐺💨 Huff, Puff, and Blow Away!🏠

In kindergarten, we reached our Knowledge Pausing Point and dove deeper into the story elements of The Three Little Pigs! 🐷🐷🐷

Afterward, our little engineers teamed up to put their construction skills to the test! Using math cubes, each team built their own house of straw, sticks, or bricks. 🧱🏡

Then came the ultimate test…Ms. Stelly channeled her inner Big Bad Wolf! 🌬️🐺

Some houses stood strong and steady, while others came tumbling down! Along the way, students explored engineering, teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience. We are so proud of our hardworking little builders! 💙💛

🏡 Home Connect:Challenge your family to build a house or tower using items around your home, such as blocks, cups, paper, or LEGO bricks! Test its strength by gently blowing on it or using a fan. What makes a structure strong? What could you change to make it stronger? Remember, great engineers learn from what doesn't work the first time!

🐸 Frog Fun in 3rd Grade! 🐸

Our 3rd graders became amphibian explorers this week! Through a classroom scavenger hunt, students searched high and low to uncover facts about poison dart frogs and tree frogs. Along the way, they practiced answering questions and built their background knowledge about these fascinating animals.

We love seeing our students get curious and hands-on with their learning! 💚

🏠Home Connect: Pick an animal your family is curious about and see how many interesting facts you can discover together! 🔎🐾

Last week, Miss Richard’s 3rd grade students turned into engineers! 🌊👷‍♀️👷‍♂️

Students followed the Engineering Design Process to build a sea wall designed to protect a coastal community from storm surge. We’re happy to report that ALL sea walls were successful and no coastal communities were flooded! 🌊🏠

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! ✅

🏠 Home Connect: Ask your child, “If you could engineer something to protect your community from a natural disaster, what would you design and why?”
