McGee, you definitely deserve a long winded speech at graduation as you head into your retirement, but we all know that will do nothing more than leave us both a blubbering mess, so I hope this post will suffice.
I'm not sure where to begin, so I'll just start at the beginning. In 2012, after I graduated from college, I was hired as a substitute teacher to cover a maternity leave. I'm not sure what it was, but you and I just clicked.
In 2018, I opened STP. I wanted nothing more than to have you beside me, but I knew you were loyal to the school you worked at. In 2020, that school closed. I saw the Facebook post and immediately texted you. You replied, "When do I start?" I was so excited to FINALLY have you back on my team.
You and I were never just co-workers. We've shared so much over the years. There was that purple flower you gave me that I thought would never stop spreading, your infamous "Gee cookie" recipe that is now my family's favorite, the pin from your mom that I'll always cherish, and most recently (and most importantly) advice on how to raise these crazy boys of mine.
I'm not going to say it was always rainbows and butterflies because we definitely drive each other crazy. I'm going to miss our early morning chats, your cinnamon rolls, our bickering, and I might even miss you yelling at me as soon as I walk through the door at 7 AM.
I (reluctantly) wish you the best in your retirement. You've been telling me you were going to retire since we met, so I hope these years are filled with gardening, travel, lots of grand babies (sorry guys, but this lady was born to be a grandma), porch parties, and everything else you're wishing for it to be.
Thanks for all you've done for STP kiddos over the past 6 years. Thanks for going along with all of my crazy ideas, even if they were accompanied by a sigh and an eye roll. But most importantly, thanks for being Nanny McGee to my baby. Elliott absolutely adores you and I can't wait for Emmett to get to know you.
Now let's graduate one last group of amazing kiddos together. I love ya, ladyππ©΅π Marge Mcgee
