This nomination is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievements throughout their elementary school years. These 10 students were selected by their teachers from a group of 173 fifth-grade students for exemplifying the pillars we strive to live by each day at JWJ: Safe, Thoughtful, Accountable, and Respectful. ⭐️

🧮✨ Fractions——> Division = Learning in Action! ✨🧮

Mrs. Montero’s 5th grade mathematicians got hands-on last week as they explored an important connection: all fractions are a representation of division!

Using sticky notes, students modeled the division and then were able to see that instead of leaving a remainder, we can partition the leftover amount into equal parts and represent it as a fraction. 🟨➗🟦

From “I see it!” moments to some serious mathematical thinking, the classroom was full of problem-solving, discussion, and productive struggle! 🩵💛

They’re not just learning how to solve the problem—we’re learning WHY the math works! 👏📚

We’re more than a school… we’re family! 🥰🐔🥚

Mrs. Lyons, our 4-H sponsor, had a fun chicken-and-egg idea and brought it to our crochet-loving librarian, Mrs. Graffeo. Of course, Mrs. Graffeo ran with it and crocheted the cutest, most egg-cellent apron! 🧶🐔✨

This is just one of the many little things that make JWJ such a special place to be. ❤️

🏁🐸 LET THE FROG RACES BEGIN! 🐸🏁

After reading The Frog Race in their CKLA Readers, Mrs. Sibille & Ms. Camille’s class and Ms. Cara’s class teamed up to bring the story to life! 📚🐸

Our second graders put their reading into action as they cheered on their frogs, watched them race toward the finish line, and had an un-frog-ettable time! 😂🐸

Who knew one little story could lead to so much fun? May the fastest frog win! 🏆🐸

Our counselors meet with student leaders each month for lunch, leadership, conversation, and connection! 🌟

Leadership Lunch was held by the JWJ Counselors on September 25th. These students were chosen for their excellent communication skills. Good communicators are able to share and understand other perspectives. Good communicators are able to talk about anything and everything with respect!

Emma is not only a dedicated student at JWJ Arts & Technology Academy, but she also shines on stage as a student at Wonderland Performing Arts in Lafayette! 🎭✨

This November, Emma will be showcasing her talents in Wonderland’s production of 🐲 How to Train Your Dragon Jr. 🐲 as a Zippleback Dragon named Charlie! 🌟

We’re so proud to cheer on Emma as she continues to share her talents and passion for the arts! 💙🌟 Keep shining, Emma! You’re a true Starblazer STAR! 🌟

🌟Teacher of the Year - Mrs. Lainie Buchta🌟
Mrs. Buchta has been such an asset to our school since she joined us. She ensures students are engaged, working hard, and proud to learn in her classroom. She also has a knack for decorating and spreading school spirit. Her expectations are high and her patience is endless. Amazing things happen in her room!

🌟Support Staff of the Year - Mrs. Rachel Thibodeaux🌟
Mrs. Thibodeaux has supported our students in many ways during her time at JWJ. No matter her role, she approaches each student and staff member with her bright smile. Also a master of patience and calm, Mrs. Rachel treats every kiddo like her own.

🌟New Teacher of the Year - Ms. Mallory Smith🌟
Ms. Smith is always up for a challenge and ready to grow! She is a planner, a go-getter, and a hard worker who strives to give her students amazing learning experiences. Though she is new to our school and education, she's already making a huge impact!
