Ventosa K9 Class #1782 graduated this morning!

After six weeks of hard work, one narcotics-detection team and one explosives-detection team are officially ready for the field. We couldn’t be prouder of these two teams! It has been a true honor having them train with us, and we can’t wait to see everything they accomplish.

K9 Arlo and K9 Haribo are absolute beasts, and we know they will excel in the field alongside their handlers. Thank you for trusting us with your training. Graduation may mark the end of this course, but the training never stops. 💪🏼

𝗔 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗗𝗘𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗬𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥! 🐾

On September 11, Officer Maynard and K-9 Jaak of the Prestonsburg Police Department were called to assist after a suspect fled on foot from a scene involving stolen copper.

Jaak was deployed for his very first track and he got his man! Working through kudzu vines, mud, thorns, water, woods, and tall grass, Jaak never gave up. He successfully located the suspect bedded down near the riverbank, where the suspect surrendered and was safely taken into custody without a bite.

Officers recovered an incredible $586,000 worth of stolen copper from the scene!

Officer Maynard and K-9 Jaak attended our May Handler Course, and we couldn’t be prouder of this team and everything they accomplished during their first real-world track. This is exactly why we train! Jaak earned plenty of belly rubs after this one. 💪🐕

Ventosa K9 Handler/Instructor Course Class #1783 is officially underway!

We’re excited to welcome 10 officers from North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina to this course.

These officers arrived with open minds, ready to learn and grow. We’re excited to pair them with their K-9 partners and help them develop the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to become successful K-9 handlers. Here’s to the next six weeks of hard work, growth, and teamwork! Remember never stop learning💪🐕‍🦺
