Practical Nursing students on our Golden Triangle campus who are members of HOSA (Future Health Professionals) participated in the Mississippi Career and Technical Student Organization (CTS0) Fall Leadership Conference that took place Oct. 8-9 at the Huntington Bank Arena in Tupelo. The EMCC Practical Nursing Chapter of HOSA also took part in a service project for the event hosted by the Mississippi Community College Board that consisted of collecting hygiene products and toiletry items for Wear it Well, an agency in Tupelo that provides clothing, hygiene products, linen, school supplies, tutoring and more to displaced families and children. All CTSOs in the state were asked to donate items at the conference, which was themed “Pack with Purpose.” EMCC’s Practical Nursing chapter of HOSA collected the most hygiene products and received a monetary donation that they will use to help a family in need during the holidays. “We are very proud of them,” EMCC Practical Nursing instructor and HOSA advisor Jemeica Arnold said. There are currently 10 members in the EMCC Practical Nursing HOSA chapter. HOSA is a nationwide student organization that prepares students for careers in the healthcare industry. They are exposed to various career pathways, networking, internships, and scholarships in career and technical fields.
