Dear Scio School District,
Scio School District values the involvement of parents, family members, and community members. Volunteers play an important role in supporting our students, staff, and school community.
To help ensure the safety of our students and provide clear expectations for those volunteering in our schools, the District is implementing a new volunteer process this year.
Volunteer Requirements:
Individuals who plan to volunteer on a regular or ongoing basis will be required to:
-Complete and pass an annual background check
-Review the District Parent & Community Volunteer Handbook
-Attend a Volunteer Training
-Sign and submit the Volunteer Agreement & Acknowledgment
First Volunteer Training:
Thursday, September 3 at 5:00 p.m.
Centennial Elementary Library
Additional volunteer training opportunities will be offered throughout the school year.
Transition to the New Process:
As we begin implementing this new process, we understand that not everyone will be able to attend a training immediately. During this transition period, individuals who have completed and passed the required background check may continue to volunteer.
Volunteers who plan to serve on a regular or ongoing basis will be expected to complete all requirements of the new volunteer process as training opportunities become available.
Purpose of the Volunteer Process:
The purpose of this process is to help ensure a safe and positive environment for students while providing volunteers with the information and guidance needed to be successful in their roles. The handbook and training will review topics including confidentiality, student safety, appropriate boundaries, school procedures, and expectations for working with students.
Printed copies of the Volunteer Handbook and additional volunteer information will be available in the school offices.
Thank you for your continued support of the Scio School District and for the time you give to our students and staff. We appreciate the many individuals who volunteer in our school and look forward to working together throughout the year.
Kimberlee Roth
Scio School District Superintendent
