Equestrians are history keepers—regardless of our skill level.

At Century Farm Equestrian Center, our students don't just read or listen about the past. They step into it, learning skills and traditions that have been passed down through generations. They learn to live its lessons.

They develop timeless skills, preserve traditions, and experience a way of life that could otherwise be forgotten.

They carry the wisdom of yesterday into the world of tomorrow.

People don't know what they don't know. So, we encourage students to ask questions when they don't know or understand something.

In one class, “rains” vs. “reins” became part of the lesson—turning a quick vocabulary and grammar moment into a hands-on horsemanship lesson for our young students.

🌧️🐴 RAIN or REIN? 🐴🌧️

They sound exactly the same, but they have very different meanings!

🌧️ Rains = water falling from the sky
➡️ “It rains a lot in Oregon.”

🐴 Reins = straps that connect the rider's hands to the horse's bridle to act as a steering, speed, and braking system.
➡️ “She gently pulled on the horse’s reins.”

These words are homophones. They have the same sound, but they have different spelling and totally different meaning! ☺️

Have your young, beginning horse riders watch this quick reel to help make sure they never mix up rains and reigns.

Century farm is looking for a couple gentle well mannered lesson horses. Something you would trust with your grandkid. Must be able to walk, trot, and canter. Over the age of 15. Not looking to spend a fortune but know they will have a great home on 80 acres with a herd. Grained and hayed all week long. Turned out every night. Only worked 4 days. Would like to be within a reasonable distance. Please call barn if you think you have a match. Thank you. 503-394-4122
