🪷🖌️ We learned that Claude Monet was a famous French painter who started a new style of art called “Impressionism,” which captures light and color in nature. Monet loved painting outdoors, like some us did today!

💦🌞 Happy Sprinkler Day!

🗿⚒️ Today we sculpted clay just like Alexander Calder. We learned that he was born in Philadelphia, and that in 1894, his grandfather sculpted the William Penn statue on top of Philadelphia City Hall!

🌻 Today we read books about Vincent Van Gogh and some watched his documentary. Vincent Van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime! We painted Vincent’s famous sunflowers, starry night, and other works too. 🎨

🥫Andy Warhol said “Pop art is for everyone.” Today our campers painted over black & white portraits of themselves, pop-art style. Just like at The Andy Warhol Museum!

🎨 Pre-K used oil pastels to create “silly” faces like Pablo Picasso.

🎨 This week’s theme is “Petite Picassos.” Our young artists learned about Pablo Picasso (thanks to Perkiomen Valley Library at Schwenksville books!), then had fun creating Picasso collages, coloring cubism, and sketching self-portraits, Picasso-style!
