Even though it’s only been a month, studying abroad has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and helped me grow so much. From navigating Florence to experiencing a new culture, I’ve become more independent, adaptable, and open to new perspectives. Every experience here has helped me become more confident in new situations. One thing that is completely new to me is the public transportation. I’ve had to learn my way around train stations, figure out which trains to take and where to get on/off. I’ve quickly learned and become more comfortable with the transportation here. 🇮🇹

Ciao! My name is Annie, and I’m currently a second-year Marketing student with an emphasis in Professional Sales and a minor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This fall semester I’m studying abroad in Florence, Italy!

My university is called Lorenzo de’ Medici, named after Lorenzo de’ Medici himself. He was a famous Florentine ruler in the late 1400s who was known as “Lorenzo the Magnificent”. He played a major role in Florence’s growth in art, culture, and education during the Renaissance!

This week, I’ll be showing you a little bit of what it’s like to live and study in Florence!

Happy Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month! UWEC has study abroad programs in a variety of Latin American locations, including our neighbor Mexico! The city of Puebla is located in the state of Puebla, in the center of Mexico. It is the 4th largest metro area in Mexico and campus is not far from the historic city center, which is a UNESCO Cultural Heritage site. Learn More about studying in Puebla on our website.

The weekend finally is here! Here are some of the things (aside from travel) that you can do to fill your weekends with when studying at the University of Limerick.

The Milk Market takes place every Saturday and is the perfect place to get local produce or crafts.
The Three Bridges Walk is the perfect way to get to know the Limerick’s history and see some gorgeous views of the Shannon.
The Hunt Museum is full of beautiful art, sculptures, and history. Even a Picasso!
The Glen Tavern is one of the many pubs in town where you can get traditional Irish food like stew and soda bread.
The Locke Bar also has this, as well as live music!
