Hey Eagles! Update for Friday 8/21

LC Staff and Families: As a result of the large power outage this afternoon and the time needed to assess our buildings whenever the power comes back on, Lake Central will not be able to have school on Friday, August 21st. We will plan to return to school on Monday, August 24th.

We are looking for volunteers to help sell bookstore items next week once school starts again. We might not necessarily need help until 10:30 each day, so if you can only stay for a shorter period of time, we would still love your help.

LC Families: All of our buildings have power, Internet & phones. We have been able to work through our remaining issues. Therefore, all Lake Central schools will reopen as planned on Thursday, August 20th. If your child cannot return due to the impact of the storm, all absences will be excused.

After assessing our buildings, we are tentatively planning to return to school on Thursday, August 20th. Please check your email of LC Facebook for more information, if possible. We will confirm the return to school with another message to families on Wednesday.

DUMPSTER AVAILABLE FOR RESIDENTS

Beginning at 2:00 PM today, Friday, August 14, a dumpster will be available for Schererville residents only in the Schererville Police Department parking lot, located at 25 E. Joliet Street.

Residents are asked to use the dumpster only for perishable food items that have spoiled as a result of the recent power outage.

Please do not dispose of household trash, furniture, appliances, or other non-perishable items.

We understand the extended power outage has created challenges for many families throughout town, and we hope this provides some sort of relief as residents clean out their refrigerators and freezers.
