🎓Mrs.Gebhardt’s Four Year Old Friends closed out our week of graduations! 💛
What a marvelous job they did! 🇺🇸After the Pledge of Allegiance, Grand Old Flag and Our Father, they shared what they want to be when they grow up. A beautiful rendition of What a Wonderful World with accompanying sign language brought tears to eyes.
We are so proud of how much they have grown and learned this year! 🎉Congratulations friends! ❤️
⭐ ️Meanwhile, a favorite tradition is always the Third Grade “Who Was” projects! After reading a biography of someone who inspired them, each student creates a third-person poster and then steps into character to deliver a first-person speech. With creative props, costumes, and confident presentations, they never fail to impress! Today they presented their projects, check out their creativity!
Just one and a half days left! Where has the year gone? 🌟

Today, our Fifth Graders officially became St. Madeleine Sophie School alumni! ❤️💛
Before the big day, our friends celebrated with a Gratitude Scavenger Hunt while proudly wearing the tie-dye class shirts they created together. Miss Scorzella invited them to visit special people and places around SMS that had shaped their journey. As they stopped to share memories and take photos, they reflected on the lessons learned, friendships formed, and joyful moments that made their time here so meaningful. What a beautiful way to spend their final day as SMS students!
This morning, surrounded by their SMS family and their own families, they celebrated this important milestone at our Graduation Ceremony. Held in our church, the ceremony gave each student the opportunity to share their gifts one last time. They offered petitions of gratitude, led a prayer they created together, sang their class song, I Can See Clearly Now, complete with hand motions, and proudly joined in our beloved School Song.
The celebration continued in the Parish Center with cake, photos, and special gifts as we sent off this remarkable class. We will miss this very special group—our “Small Class with Big Hearts.”
May God bless each of you as you begin your middle school adventure. Remember the words of our School Song: St. Madeleine Sophie is your school and your home—and it always will be.
Congratulations, Class of 2026! We will miss you! ❤️

🎓Our Kindergarten friends celebrated their graduation yesterday.🎉 After showing us how much they have grown this year, they danced their way to first grade. ❤️Thank you Miss Visconti and Ms. Dunbar for helping them learn and
giving them the opportunity to let their light shine!⭐️🎶Of course they shared this milestone with their fifth grade buddies who even joined them on stage to sing our School Song.🎈Thank you to our Families for sharing your most precious gifts with us this year- we have loved being a part of this special year! 🥰
💙💜💛 Our soon to be SMS alumni then participated in another special tradition of tie-dying their class shirts.
All this was done under the watchful (and amazed) eyes of our Principal for the Day. 🏫Miss Piazza helped at drop-off, led us in morning and afternoon prayers, helped at graduation and dismissal too. She even had a special lunch with her BFF and Mrs. Quatrini. It was a full day! 🙏🏻

🎉 Celebration Time!! 🎉
We have officially started the season of LASTS!
Yesterday was our LAST official School Liturgy of the school year, and it was a special one. It was finally Kindergarten’s turn to help with Mass, and they were wonderful! 📖⛪ Our readers, greeters, and gift bearers all participated enthusiastically, and their Fifth Grade buddies were right there to lend a helping hand when needed. 💙
Our Fifth Graders are enjoying so many special events as they share what they have learned and celebrate their successes. Yesterday afternoon was Poetry Day, when they donned their special poetry berets and read aloud the poetry collections they have worked on for months. 🎩📚 Snaps of appreciation followed each reading, along with laughter, smiles, and even a few tears as they shared thoughtful, meaningful, and sometimes very funny pieces.
Last night’s Spring Concert and Art Show was a huge success! 🎶🎨 Our homeroom teachers in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade taught their classes spring-themed songs, many with creative movements included. The performances were fun, imaginative, and brought smiles to everyone in attendance.
We were also fortunate to have many friends help make the evening extra special. Teddy opened the concert with a beautiful solo violin rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner that impressed everyone. 🎻 Mrs. McLean from Paul Effman Music then led her violin students and band as they showcased all they have learned this year. Mr. Arthur, our Pre-K Music Teacher Extraordinaire, taught our Fourth Graders an exciting percussion rhythm piece while our Third Graders kept the beat with dancing ribbons. 🥁✨
The SMS School Choir performed two wonderful songs, and as a special treat, friends from the ND-BG production of Annie—many of whom are SMS alumni—shared two selections from the show. 🌟 The grand finale was a crowd favorite as all students in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade took the stage together to perform our school song.
Mrs. Frazier, our Art Teacher, ensured every child had a beautiful piece displayed, brightening our Parish Center with creativity and color. 🖼️🌈 Even without a music teacher this Spring, our students joyfully shared their talents, and we are so grateful for everyone who helped make the evening such a success.
Today was also DARE Graduation Day for our Fifth Graders! 👮♂️🎓 Our partnership with the Guilderland Police Department is one we truly value. Officer Ralston commended our students for their hard work learning how to avoid dangerous situations and communicate effectively as they prepare for middle school. His colleagues joined him, including a K-9 officer who showed off some impressive skills! 🐕🚔
Each student wrote a meaningful DARE essay reflecting on what they learned and how they hope to apply those lessons in real life. Although Officer Ralston had a difficult time choosing, he selected Madison’s essay as the winner, and she proudly shared it with the audience. GPD officers then answered questions and gave students an up-close look at their squad cars.
Kindergarten had Bubble Day, Pre-K Three Friends had some under the sea and end of the year fun too! 🐠
To top off the day, we cooled down with a special treat! 🍧☀️ We celebrated our successful Read for Ronald McDonald campaign with popsicles for all K–5 students. It was a wonderful way to spend time together as these final school days fly by.
We have so much to look forward to over the next 8 days! Be sure to check back and celebrate with us! 💙💛 Videos on Instagram!

🎉🌞 Oh, What a Night!! 🌞🎉
Perfect weather, Kona Ice 🍧, inflatables 🎈, friends 🤗, and fun 🎊 — our SMS Family Picnic was a huge success!
For the first time in three years, the weather cooperated, giving us a beautiful evening to gather together as a community. More than 350 of our closest friends joined us, bringing delicious side dishes and drinks to complement crowd favorites like pizza 🍕 and chicken nuggets 🍗.
Families enjoyed an inflatable obstacle course 🏃♂️, football pitch 🏈, flavor-your-own Kona Ice 🍧, bubbles 🫧, kickball ⚽, and plenty of games and activities. We were also thrilled to welcome friends from Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons! SMS alumni and current ND-BG students helped lead games, connect with families, and share information about their school. (And they were such great sports during the Granny Pants Game! 😂👖)
It was truly a night filled with fun, family, friendship, and unforgettable memories. ❤️💙 Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this special event such a wonderful success!
