The guy that made everything within Destine’s walls possible. Re’Shawn has been an educator for over a decade, working as a teacher and school administrator before joining BES Fellowship to bring high quality, free public charter school to Schenectady’s students. BES is a non-profit organization that discovers and trains outstanding leaders to reform education in their communities.
Mr. Rogers is a lifelong learner, mentor, and compassionate human. When he selects someone to come into his school, he is making an investment in them. Once you are in the building you can be sure that Mr. Rogers will be in your email with feedback, conversations about growth, and may even put a book in your mailbox that he thinks you would enjoy.
Often times we see Mr. Rogers steps into classrooms to observe teachers, and give them just a tiny heart attack wondering why he is there. His focus is clear, he is there to help both teachers and scholars grow, and will often put his teacher hat on and model for the whole room! Practices such as this are one of the many reasons he has been able to build such an impactful school, and will continue that success for years to come.
Some quotes you can hear from our founder are “Just 1% better everyday”, “Water off of a ducks back”, “Growth mindset”, among countless other pieces of wisdom he instills in both staff and scholars. Coming from over a decade of experience in the classroom, he brings real time effective coaching to staff and can be seen coaching countless scholars on ways to turn their day around, or do their best on an upcoming assignment.
We would be here until the end of time if we tried to count all the lives Mr. Rogers has had a positive impact on just by opening Destine Prep, and his vision is felt throughout Schenectady and beyond. For all that he has done, continues to do, and is planning for the future of the school, We thank him!

Calling Our Community!
It is hard to believe we are already thinking about the 2026-2027 school year, but the grind truly does not stop for our school. Over the summer we will be cleaning, taking inventory, and re-decorating for the next year!
It truly takes a community to help our students thrive. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we're inviting our school families, friends, and supporters to help us create warm, welcoming, and inspiring spaces throughout our classrooms and hallways.
Our Amazon Registry includes items that will be used to beautify and enhance our school environment, helping to create spaces where students feel valued, motivated, and excited to learn each day.
If you're able to contribute, we would be so grateful. Every item purchased is an investment in our students and the school community we build together.
Thank you for your continued support and for helping us make our school a place where every child can feel at home. ❤️📚✨

Nicknamed the Transformers, for their ability to shift into any role needed around the building, and ensuring the school is clean, safe, well fed, and running smooth. Today we highlight our food and custodial team of Ms. Darr, Ms. Rivera, Mr. Russell, Mr. Burgess, Ms. Gilbert, and Ms. Baldeo, who are important pillars of our Destine family. Whether it is knowing every dietary restriction of 250+ scholars, cleaning three floors of classroms/bathrooms, or taking extra time to listen and coach our scholars through a tough time, this team shows up no matter what. For this, the 300+ other jobs they do around the building, and so much more, we thank them
