Due to the extreme heat expected, Friday, June 12 will be a half day of school for all students.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. Dismissal will follow our standard half-day schedule.

As we navigate this period of high temperatures, we urge all families to take the necessary safety precautions:

> Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty.

>Limit Outdoor Activity: Avoid prolonged outdoor activity, especially during peak heat hours.

> Dress Appropriately: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing to help stay cool.

> Vehicle Safety: Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles for any amount of time.

> Check on Loved Ones: Please check in regularly on children, older adults, and individuals with underlying health concerns who may be more vulnerable to the heat.

💧 Make a splash this summer🏊‍♂️✨

Registration is OPEN for our Summer Learn to Swim Classes! This program is a fantastic opportunity for students to build confidence, have fun, and learn vital water safety skills.

📋 The Details:

Who: Open to all Schenectady City School District Elementary & Middle School students.

When: 6 weekly sessions to choose from (July 6 – August 14).

Format: Daily 45-minute classes. You pick the week and time slot that works best for your family.

Where: Schenectady High School Pool (Enter through Door 19).

🚨 Important Note for Non-SCSD / South Colonie Families: Openings are prioritized for district students. However, if you are a Schenectady resident whose child attends another school, or a South Colonie family, you can still submit your interes. We will reach out to you if spots remain available after district registration closes.

🏃‍♀️☀️ Field Day Update, Paige Panda Families! 🏃‍♂️☀️
Due to the intense heat forecasted for Friday, our school-wide Field Day has been postponed to Monday, June 15th.

🎉 PreK–2: 8:30–10:30 AM
🎉 Grades 3–5: 12:15–2:15 PM

Students should wear sneakers, comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle, and dress in their grade-level color if possible.
We're also looking for parent volunteers to help make this event a success. Scan the QR code on the flyer to sign up!

Hello Panda Families,

To ensure our full energy goes into our upcoming end-of-year festivities, we will be postponing our school Juneteenth BBQ until further notice. In recognition of the holiday, we would love to see our community support these fantastic local celebrations on June 19th and 20th:

🕊️ Ancestors Ceremony: Friday, June 19 (3–5 PM) at Vale Cemetery's Ancestral Burial Ground. Features drumming, songs, and historical re-enactments.

🥁 Juneteenth Parade: Saturday, June 20 at 12:30 PM, marching right into the Central Park Festival.

🌳 Central Park Festival: Saturday, June 20 (1–8 PM) at Central Park. Packed with live performances, food vendors, kids' activities, and double dutch.

🏡 West Broadway Event: Saturday, June 20 (3–7:30 PM) at 1400 & 1420 W. Broadway. A lively neighborhood celebration with music, dance, and fashion.

Our Paige Panda Leaders have been exploring the exciting world of comics in library and art class—learning about comic text features, storytelling, and creating their own superheroes!
On June 5th, students are invited to celebrate Comic Book Day by wearing their favorite superhero or comic-themed shirt or costume and enjoying a day filled with comic book reading and fun.
We can’t wait to see our school full of superheroes! 🐼📚✨
