#TalkAboutItThursday...Only a few sleeps left until the Saturday Night In Virtual Gala. We are getting so excited to watch on October 17. Are you? Check out this BINGO card – we will be playing along during the Virtual Gala, and we invite you to join us.
You can watch the live stream at SOILL.org or via the Special Olympics Illinois page. We will share the stream once it begins. Select one of the four BINGO cards you want to use, cover the spaces as those occurrences happen in the broadcast. The first three viewers who type BINGO in the Facebook Live chat that evening will win one of these three awesome prizes. Anthony has been involved in Special Olympics with District 54 since he was a Young Athlete at Collins and Armstrong elementary schools. He has competed in soccer, bowling, basketball and swimming. Anthony's favorite memory is going to Bloomington-Normal for state basketball! Anthony will be going to Conant High School next year. Congratulations, Anthony!

Jaylan has been active in Special Olympics since 2018 when he started at Addams Junior High. He has done basketball, soccer, unified soccer and track and field. His favorite sport is basketball. Jaylan said his favorite memory has been playing in tournaments with his friends! Jaylan is off to Hoffman Estates High School next year. We are proud of you, Jaylan!

Annabelle has been in Special Olympics since she was a Young Athlete! She started competing when she turned 8 while attending Aldrin Elementary School. Since then, she has tried floor hockey, poms, gymnastics, track and field, basketball skills, soccer and swimming. Her favorite was floor hockey skills. She said her favorite memory was Coach Austin showing up at her house as the Grizzly! Annabelle just graduated from Frost Junior High and is headed to Schaumburg High School! Congratulations, Annabelle! We are so proud of you!

Dominick has been participating in Special Olympics since he was a Young Athlete at Hanover Highlands Elementary School! He started competing in traditional sports as soon as he turned 8. He has done basketball team, basketball skills, bowling, floor hockey skills, snowshoeing, bocce, volleyball skills, soccer skills and soccer team, Track and Field, Swimming and unified bowling. Dom has also been in Club Unify since he was 8! His favorite memories are having his parents as coaches, being the team MVP in Unified Basketball, and making a basket at the Sears Center during the Windy City Bulls halftime game! He just graduated from Addams Junior High and is heading to Hoffman Estates High School! Good luck, Dom! We are so proud of you!

Katie first joined the Sensations in 3rd grade at Stevenson Elementary School. She joined the Poms team because she loves music and dance! Her favorite memory is performing a the Sears Center and working with her favorite coach, Sydney. Katie is going to Kirk High School next year. Good luck, Katie!

Greg started competing in Special Olympics in 3rd grade at Aldrin Elementary School. Since then, Greg has competed in gymnastics, skiing, track and field, soccer, bocce, golf, swimming, basketball, floor hockey, volleyball, bowling and unified bowling. His favorite sport is skiing and his favorite memory is learning how to ski and improving each year. Greg was so proud to ski at Level 3 at the 2020 Winter Games! Greg is moving on from Frost Junior High to Schaumburg High school. Good luck, Greg! We are proud of you!

Claire has been involved in Special Olympics since Young Athletes! She made the jump to traditional sports when she was at Aldrin Elementary School. Since then, and throughout her time at Frost Junior High, she has participated in volleyball, track and field, golf, tennis, basketball, floor hockey and has been a member of the Sensations! Claire says that golf and poms were her favorite sports! We are so proud of you, Claire! Good luck at Conant!

Ashley spent her elementary school days at Campanelli and then Hanover Highlands when she started participating in Special Olympics by joining the Sensations in 4th grade. Ashley also participated in track and field and gymnastics, although being a Sensation was her favorite! Her favorite memory of her time in Special Olympics was performing with the Sensations and going to the parties! Congratulations, Ashley! Good luck next year at Hoffman Estates High School!

Meredith has been participating in Special Olympics since 6th grade at Campanelli Elementary School. She has competed in bowling, golf, bocce, and track and field. Her favorite sport to play is golf. She has also been in Club Unify for 2 years at Addams Junior High. Meredith said her favorite memory with D54SO was being invited to go to the Youth Activation Summit. Erich has been involved in Special Olympics for the last two years while attending Keller Junior High. He started his time in District 54 at Hoover Math and Science Academy before that. He made the most of his 2 years in the program by competing in Swimming, Unified Soccer, Unified Bowling, Bowling and Floor Hockey skills. His favorite was swimming! Erich's favorite memory in Special Olympics was winning 1st place in the Unified Soccer Tournament this fall. Erich will attend Schaumburg High School next year. Congratulations, Erich! We are so proud of you!

Holden has been active in Special Olympics since he was a Young Athlete. When he was 8, he made the jump to traditional sports while attending Campanelli and never looked back! He has competed in skiing, basketball, golf, volleyball, gymnastics, floor hockey skills, tennis, bowling, unified bowling, unified bocce, unified soccer, and track and field. Holden was also in Club Unify and represented Addams Junior High on the Youth Activation Committee last year. When asked what his favorite memory of his time in D54 SO was, he said "It's hard to choose one! It's probably getting my first Special Olympics medal, which was Bronze. It made me feel happy and excited. I felt special."

Congratulations, Holden! We are so proud of you and wish you luck at Hoffman Estates High School!
